Well, basically. Personally, though, I'd say it sounds more like the voice that would come out of this man. But that's just a personal perception. Haha... I wish I could say you're correct in assuming that! But you've heard me sing, I have the most terrible voice. And with all the shyness/nervousness/anxiety, it might be miraculous if I sound even remotely normal. But still, if this works it will be awesome!

"Hey Stuart, Sorry about the lack of response. I read your application and I liked what I saw so I asked Frank (our Programming Director and the guy who'd be getting back to you. He's Francis Digiacomo on FClass) to get back to you straight away. Next time he's in the office I'll harp on him some more. In his defense we've had a pretty wild rush of newbies this semester. That said, we'll get you in soon, scout's honor. -J"

And get ready for thursday, I'm going to request the filthiest, most profane rap music ever.

So, tonight my friends and I walked back down to the station (it's becoming a regular hangout... I think I'll deem it 'the hall of dreams', haha), and actually talked with some of the guys doing a show tonight. I asked them how long it usually takes to process applications, and they said that it usually doesn't take very long... except, nice as he is, they say the station manager is often pretty forgetful. So they urged me to email him until I get an answer, which is something I normally wouldn't do (I don't like pressuring people like that because I'm a very modest mouse (well, not really mouse-like)), but I just sent one. He probably won't get it tonight, but things may start to pick up throughout this week. Crossin' my mouse-paw fingers.

Awsome! And I haven't heard back yet, which is driving me insane. I walked down to the station last night with some friends, which was both awesome and frustrating because I took more time to look around the office and they have all these awesome band posters that were signed... however, my application had been removed from the inbox, which leads me to believe that it's been looked at and that it either takes a really long time to accept or it's been rejected. I hope that's not the case, especially since they seem really relaxed about letting people have shows... anyway, I look forward to calling in! I'm not sure what to request yet, but I'm excited.

Built to Spill! "Untrustable, Part 2" nearly brought me to tears once, true story. Also, I'm seriously going to try to listen to your show this week... if I try to request a song, are there any limitations to what you guys can't play/don't have in your library/doesn't fit the show's genre?

Anyway, I should hear something this week, I think. What's your station website/broadcasting time? Or does it vary? I'd really love to listen! Hopefully I'll have similar information to give you soon... basically, if they're interested in your application, they let you know and set up a time for you to come in for new DJ training. After that, you shadow an experienced DJ for a show or two, then have three "pilot" shows on your own. If those go well enough, your show becomes permanent! I really hope this works out... it really is a dream job of mine.

That's good to hear! It's ridiculous how much chaos this waiting has caused me, though. I only applied Wednesday afternoon, but it feels like it's been an eternity of waiting. Maybe it's just because they made it sound like there was a lot of space open in the broadcasting schedule, but this really is nerve-wracking.

Awesome! And it's awesome that you work at the radio station! We have one, and I actually just sumbitted my application to work there last wednesday... unfortunately, I still haven't heard back. But I'm hoping I'll hear something this week! It's really crazy that you're working for a radio station... do you have online streaming? I'd love to hear your show. I'll let you know how my radio station situation works out!

'The Bad Arts' is just about as close as it gets to being a perfect song, just sayin'.

(Because I personally plan on deleting my last.fm account and all of my music, so that I may devote no less than 100% of my time to rigorous study; in a few days I'm afraid I'll have to say goodbye forever.)

No way, for real? I'm actually going to study physics, too. Great minds think alike! Really, though, that's amazing. I'd like to take courses in astronomy as well, but I don't know if I'll have enough room to take any of them this year. Hopefully.

If / when we do 'Volume III', you should totally contribute a song! I mean, I don't want to pressure you or anything, I just think it would be sweet. You know, 'Trailer Trash' hasn't been done yet... just sayin'. But really, if you ever had even the slightest desire to do something like that, of course you'd be more than welcome! By the way, how long have you been playing guitar? BECAUSE IF IT'S ANYTHING LESS THAN TEN YEARS YOUR TALENTS WOULD BE UNWELCOME. Haha, just joking. I'm just curious. Speaking of which, I hate to throw so many questions at you at once but do you know what you're going to study at school?

I can't even describe how beautiful of an album "The Earth is Not a Cold Dead Place" is. I mean, I guess you know that already. But I just wanted to say, I can't thank you enough for suggesting it, it is absolutely incredible. Thank you!

As I look back I suppose I should have mentioned that these are 'albums' of Modest Mouse cover songs, as recorded and released by a group I'm in, It's All Nice On Ice. I apologize for being so vague. Also, if Torcio's rendition of 'Bankrupt On Selling' doesn't bring tears to your eyes, I'm convinced that nothing can, haha. ...I'm joking, but it really is nice.

Most of the songs are pretty lo-fi, and Volume II is somewhat experimental in places, but it's still really fun to listen to. If you can get past the fact that Modest Mouse is a terrible, terrible band to begin with, that is.

Alright, I can't wait to hear it... and the playlist, it sounds really good. Also, listening to Modest Mouse is such a waste of time, but seeing as you like them anyway I would recommend you check this out: http://www.last.fm/music/It's+All+Nice+On+Ice+Collective >>> It's kind of like Modest Mouse, but with actual real PERSONALITY and Hi-Fi recording.

Just kidding, of course, I'm glad you liked it. Especially Dry The Rain, since you liked it so much I can finally rest my worried head. Speaking of your appreciation of music, I think I'm on the verge of diving into Explosions in the Sky (finally)... where would you start?

Not to be creepin', but I just saw in my 'Friends Listening Now' box that you were listening to The Beta Band! ...joy has been brought to my heart, to say the very least. Haha. Really, though, I'm glad you checked them out, I think Dry The Rain is one of my favorite songs of all time. If you don't mind my asking, what did you think?

Also, I certainly don't want to make you feel like you have to join, but in case you're interested I just started a new Beirut group, The Long Island Sound... I just noticed you were listening to "The Flying Club Cup," so you're welcome to join if you want! Really though, no pressure.

I think I should start listening to Destroyer more, do you have a favorite album of his? I happen to have "Streethawk: A Seduction," "This Night," "Your Blues," and "Destroyer's Rubies" on my computer, are there any other albums you'd suggest I look into?

Dan Bejar's voice is SWEET. Really unique, anyway... a friend of mine had given me some of Destroyer's albums before, but they were just sort of on my computer and I hadn't gotten around to hearing them. But I'm so glad you said something, because this is amazing.

Thank you very, very much... I'll be sure to check them out soon. And for you, I'd probably suggest Born Ruffians and The Beta Band. The Born Ruffians self-titled EP and The Beta Band's first compilation, "The Three EPs", are among some of my favorite albums. Also, Cymbals Eat Guitars and Real Estate are newer bands, but they're both very good. CEG's "Why There Are Mountains" is wonderful.

Yeah, Laughing Stock's generally considered to be one of the two albums which "invented" post rock (the other being Spiderland, by Slint)...which is weird since I've found maybe one other album which sounds anything vaguely like it. It's just so unique and strange. I remember lying in bed listening to "New Grass" and just being transported away.

Oh, excellent! You should definitely check out "Spirit Of Eden" as well - it's in the same vein, though not as jazzy or freeform. Gorgeous albums. I'm forever disappointed Talk Talk isn't better known.
