Well, to be honest there really aren't any that I wouldn't recommend. They're all so good... but personally, I guess if I had to pick I'd say that "At Home With Owen" is really incredible. I've been connecting with that one more and more recently... it's great. The Seaside EP is also fantastic; it's just a collection of bonus tracks from the Japanese versions of the CDs, but each song is so good. Particularly "Heads Will Roll," "I woke Up Today," and "A Fever." They're amazing. So I'd recommend those for sure, but overall I might say "No Good For No One Now" might be my second favorite (the first being the s/t, I guess)... but you can't listen to that until after you've received my package! Well, you could... but I'd highly recommend you save it until then. But I'd say you couldn't go wrong with any of those three.

Sun Hotel - "Sun Hotel sounds like what Sun Hotel is all about… The South. PBR. Beauty. The wind. Getting down. Friendship. America. Skinny Jeans. Weed… in no particular order. They live in the South, they like it, and they make music." hahaha

Oh! And about that East Hastings remix... I've heard about it, but I've never actually heard it. I wasn't sure if it even existed, actually, it just sounds so... weird. But I'll have to check it out sometime. What did you think of it? Better than the original, amirite?

Actually, you said you didn't like Kaputt, yes? I think I'm going to try listening to his albums from the beginning if I can, and work my way toward the present from there.

New Destroyer's pretty synth-sweet, in a mid 80's Bryan Ferry kinda way, which is good since I'm pretty much going through my Roxy phase right about now. The Kaputt video is beyond awesome as well. But what's all that hiatus pish-posh? Didn't he say the same thing before Bay of Pigs? Hell, I'd even go for a country record from the man if it kept him in the biz...

I'm sending you a diverse selection of fresh Maine poultry... and a couple CDs, but they're each audiotapes about how to prepare said poultry.

I think you'll love it, unless you happened to be a vegan... in that case, you'd probably hate it.

I finished gathering things for your present today! I just need to write a little letter or something and I should be able to send it tomorrow.

Hello, Sarah! The new British Sea Power took over my life last week. I have given it a rest as I don't want to overplay it and get sick of it (I have a tendency to do this). I think it is Album of the Year. It is heroic, anthemic, and makes me very happy. There are guitar solos. There are lyrics about stars and going to discos and protesting and Communists. It is perfect.

Someday I could be a math teacher, maybe... but I'd be teaching kids how to find the area under a curve and then I'd start thinking about music and Godspeed and Mineral and before I'd know it I'd end up like this... on second thought, I could never be a math teacher.

And I'm so so so so happy you listened to Mineral, they're a really special band. That album is changing my life so much, I can't even describe it... it's just one of those albums that I can connect with just about perfectly. It's incredibly emotional... I really don't know what to say. But I'm glad you gave them a listen!

Haha, but I really don't know. There's nothing else I'd be good at, I don't think, or anything I'd really enjoy that you can go to school for... for example, my dream job might just be traveling around listening to records all the time but there's no major for that.

Yann Tiersen was ok, I love all his piano music but I think his last two albums are like pretty bad post-rock. I wouldn't say definitely don't go but there's probably a lot of better ways to spend your money, I don't know how to describe what it was like but me and friend both agreed that within each song there would be a completely amazing bit but that most of it was pretty awful, especially when they attempted to sing.

Also, I just sent in another email about getting a radio show last night, this time proposing a more specialized show built specifically around post-rock. I really hope this works out this time.

And do you remember the bus system I told you I used when I had to go into town to pick up your letter? I had nothing to do today so I used it again, this time in an attempt to visit the record store in town. It had mostly just old stuff, but I managed to pick up the most recent Sigur Rós album and Horses In The Sky, which I cannot wait to check out later tonight. I think I'm going out in a little bit with some friends but when I get back it will likely be the first thing I do. GOD BLESS OUR DEAD MARINES

They're really, really, really incredibly good. I shouldn't have waited so long to check them out. Thank you so much for recommending them. I've only really hear the first two albums, but I'm loving both of them. They feel like Godspeed, but somewhat more accessible. That transition between "Broken Chords Can Sing A Little" and the moment the drums kick in on "Sit In The Middle Of Three Galloping Dogs" absolutely killed me the first time I heard it. I LOVE THIS BAND.

And I'm not sure if I'd recommend Set Fire To Flames... the artwork is awesome and the music is pretty cool in general, but it's much more experimental/ambient/drone-y than Godspeed, which I'm not sure if you'd like. Also, again, you may want to wait to check them out until after you receive my package...
