Good call on Texas Sea. Just went through their myspace tracks. Didn't really hear any Leonard Cohen, but still good. I hear the Waifs too, but that may be just the aussie accent over country folk.

Yeah, I downloaded it from iTunes. It's so incredibly good. A hardcopy would be great but I'm going to have to wait a bit for than one.

How awesome was Doch last week! Unfortunately I only got tickets to the Saturday 11:30pm show, so mine was about 1 hour less than the others. Can't wait to see them again soon!

Another TnS show at the Tivoli would have been great .. but the Riverstage will do. :)

Wow, that's a great write up Demo. I've never seen them and the funny thing is our kids are mad keen to see them as well but they've only ever played night time R18 gigs here in Nelson. It'd be fab to see them in a mid afternoon mid-summer loved up out door gig over here one year. I suspect their live performances trump their recorded stuff as it really allows them to mine the grooves and rhythms for all they're worth.

No I just missed that tour by a couple of weeks. When I heard they had toured with SFK I decided to check them out and thats how my DCFC passion started, but it was too late for that tour. For the record Giants did segue into Settling because I kept the review I did of both shows. Luckily for that Arena gig in 06 the tour manager spotted my wheelchair and invited me backstage. I got to meet the band and received a signed copy of Plans. One of the nights of my life!

Thanks for your comments. They did do the drum duel on Giants and they repeated it two days later at Splendour. In fact I'm reliably informed that they did it for every gig during the Trans and Plans tours, but decided to drop it this time around to fit more new material in, hence my point. Thanks again for taking the time to read it.

Not too much matey. Yourself? You should be the next one to do the album club thread. I'm keen to hear what you recommend!

Yes I see what you mean. I saw them 06 as well and I think the band is much tighter, musically speaking. On both occasions Ben has tended to lose his angelic vocal qualities in the live performance. in exchange for the more aggressive style of live show. I would've liked less of Plans and more Facts, Airplanes and Photo. I had a little chuckle during Your Bruise and Title Track when the crowd seemed perplexed, as if they had no idea what they were playing so I can understand why the set list was so heavily weighted to Post 05, I guess I just revel in my love of old school DCFC. Look forward to reading your review, let me know when its up.
