As a side note, I've just found out that Grizzly Bear is going to be playing a show at the 930. I wonder how this will play out.

I certainly don't think that good works overcome hatred, either, and I never said as much. I've heard what they say, and I don't feel their message is one fueled by any hatred of theirs but by some supremely misguided thinking. It's really a weird position they have themselves in, and I'm conflicted about it. I very much see your point, but for now I'm inclined to disagree a bit.

Yep, read it. I disagree that 'good works' overcome hatred-by-agenda. Doesn't matter if they don't proselytize at shows since attending is a tacit endorsement of what they're doing and if that money goes to those who aren't at peace with reality as such (to use their terms).

Lemme guess: you read that LEO article. Yeah, The 930 is run by Sojourn, but they don't use the shows to proselytize their religious views. I really disagree with a whole lot of Sojourn's position. I went to a couple services when they were meeting at Highland Baptist (my family's church) and was pretty turned off by them. I still think a lot of what they do is great for the community.

Recently, it has come to my attention that The 930 Listening Room is run by Sojourn, a fundamentalist group that is using its new cultural position to stage rhetorical attacks on the Louisville lesbian & gay community, which are deceptively couched in a rhetoric of acceptance (despite the fact that gays are “welcome” at the Sojourn church it is only so if they repudiate their own identity first).
