As much as I love Young, even he will tell you Bob Dylan is the strongest and cleverest songwriter of all time. It's simple knowledge. Back up your facts! Seriously. Anyway, Take it easy.

It was a compliment, fair enough. But your off the mark a bit, Both artists had particular strong periods in certain times. Dylan primarily with 60's, Waits you could argue 70's or 80's. As much as I adore Tom Waits, I have to stress that Dylan's catalog is FAR stronger. You say while dylan was doing average stuff in the 80's, Waits was producing Rain Dogs...Thats fair enough. But again 80's might well have been Waits strongest era, Dylan however was producing solid GOLD 20 years before that, The Freewheeling, Time they are a changing Bringing it all back home, Highway 61 BLONDE ON BLONDE!!! John Wesley harding And lets not forget /those/ Bootleg series Concerts, Or the Newport Festival. We're talking about era's here!! And Modern Times is one of the best albums of the 00's!!
