  • I'm Bored... HEY LOOK! SURVEY TIMES!!!

    Ago 4 2008, 18h15

(Keep in mind that much of this is contradictory, as I got kicked off the computer sometime about halfway through doing this, and only got around to finishing it several days later, so many of the artist positions have changed...)

    1. How did you get into 31?
illScarlett opening for Billy Talent last September = good times! Quickly ran off to the merch stand to buy their album as soon as their set was over (fighting my way past hordes of others doing likewise), then got home and listened to it like mad over and over the next few months, which is entirely the reason why I’ve hardly listened to them at all since getting Last.FM

    2. What was the first song you ever heard by 22?
The Pogues - If I Should Fall From Grace With God, I believe, seeing as that’s the first track on the first album my dad ever got by them, and it was a looong time ago, so I can only assume.

    3. What's your favourite lyric by 25?
ZOMGS!!! At the moment of writing this, I HAVE NO # 25! Bandits of the Acoustic Revolution and Dropkick Murphys are tied for 24, so I’ll take a BOTAR quote, “HERE’S TO LIFE!” (Which is, of course, quite the more epic and scream-ey in real life.) Actually, ANY quote by them would do nicely.

    4. What is your favourite album by 49?
The Suicide Machines… A band who, at this point I have only recorded 3 plays of here on Last.FM. In fact, I’ve only ever heard / listened to them here on Last.FM, via my recommendations. Which reminds me – I really need to check them out some more. So, let’s say I’ll get back to you on that…

    5. How many albums by 13 do you own?
Huzzah for Spoon! I am the proud owner of Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga and Gimme Fiction; which makes two.

    6. What is your favourite song by 50?
Again, there’s no # 50 artist either… So I’ll take Weezer – Say It Ain’t So. Great song, I love it! Also, I need to listen to them a lot more too…

    7. Is there a song by 4 that makes you sad?
Hmm… The Clash. I don’t think I can say there is, at least not in the traditional, emotional sense. There’s plenty of their songs that make me *disappointed*; thinking about the sad state of our society and all, so I guess that counts.

    8. What is your favourite song by 15?
Defiance, Ohio –The Years, The Fear, The Sleep. ‘Nuff Said.

    9. What is your favourite song by 5?
Flogging Molly – Another Bag Of Bricks. So different from their usual sound, but so brilliant at the same time. Which is why I love it. It’s kind of a tough choice, actually.

    10. Is there a song by 6 that makes you happy?
Bloc Party… A LOT of their songs make me happy, actually, kind of uplifting, I guess. As for something specific; nothing really springs to mind though.

    11. What is your favourite album by 40?
While their debut (Babylon) was quite the rad album, Roots Rock Riot surpasses it as my favourite Skindred album.

    12. What is your favourite song by 12?
Nope… No # 12 for me either. In a tie between Dispatch and This Bike Is A Pipe Bomb, I’d have to say that I like Dispatch better, in which case the answer becomes: This Bike Is A Pipe Bomb - We Shall Not Be Moved, hands down.

    13. What is a good memory you have involving 33?
Linkin Park. I wouldn’t say that I have any memories of *specific* good things, although falling in love with Meteora would defiantly qualify. I think me and my friend listened to that album a lot while playing Halo 3. There we go!

    14. What is your favourite song by 37?
…Why the hell is Crass tied with Basshunter for 36! *Outrage ensues* Crass deserves to be in the top 10, and Basshunter shall count as 37 for now… In which case: Basshunter – Dota.

    15. Is there a song by 19 that makes you happy?
Hells yeah! Nearly *anything* by The Cat Empire makes me happy! For a specific answer, I’ll say my favourite; Fishies.

    16. How many times have you seen 24 live?
Once again; tie. BOTAR = I wish! As for Dropkick Murphys, I’m *STILL* outraged about being offered free tickets to see them with the Bosstones last month and then being physically unable to make it. (Instead, I got to bike 50 miles in a day! At least I raised money for cancer research…) So, never.

    17. What is the first song you ever heard by 17?
Oh, geez. The first Mad Caddies song I ever heard? I have no idea. I know I first checked them out via their Myspace, but I have no idea what song. I remember Backyard particularly catching my attention, however.

    18. What is your favourite album by 11?
Yet another tie. It’s apparent that I need to listen to a lot more music. So it’s either: Dispatch – Who Are We Living For? (one of my favourite albums EVER) or This Bike Is A Pipe Bomb – Front Seat Solidarity, which is also quite rad.

    19. Who is a favourite member of 1?
For some reason, The Mighty Mighty Bosstones (not Streetlight Manifesto or State Radio, surprisingly) are my #1 artist. Dicky Barrett.

    20. Have you ever seen 14 live?
Death Cab For Cutie, unfortunately no. Isn’t it GREAT to live in Nova Scotia, kids?

    21. What is a good memory involving 21?
Bedouin Soundclash – YES! The day that my buddy Derek introduced me to them by letting me listen to his copy of Sounding A Mosaic during school one day. That class of Design was one of the best ever! (This was back before I had an mp3 player and took my discman to school everyday, lol.)

    22. What is your favourite song by 16?
    The Specials – Ghost Town

    23. What is the first song you ever heard by 47?
The Hungry Hungry Hypocrites – Yet To Meet. Thank you reccomendations.

    24. What is your favourite album by 45?
    Head Automatica – Popaganda

    25. What is your favourite song by 18?
Umm… Favourite Gogol Bordello song? Oh geez, that’s a tough one. Start Wearing Purple? Sure. Let’s go with that.

    26. What is the first song you ever heard by 38?
Shannon Murray and Ryan Harvey – Bread and Roses

    27. What is your favourite lyric by 3?
The English Beat – Just… ALL of Doors of Your Heart. Look it up; it’s amazing.

    28. What is you favourite song by 2?
Streetlight Manifesto – Aaaaagh!!! Don’t make me choose just one! I love all of Streetlight’s – no, not just Streetlight, all of *Tomas’* - songs. I guess if I *absolutely had* to narrow it down to just one, let’s say, Supernothing.

    29. What was the first song you ever heard by 32?
Reel Big Fish – Sell Out. That song was my jam back in the 90s before I even knew what ska was! It’s only recently that I’ve rediscovered it and realized [not only who it was by, but also] that RBF still existed and had other songs besides it…

    30. What is you favourite song by 8?
State Radio – Mr. Larkin. Possibly my favourite song by anyone, ever.

    31. How many times have you seen 26 live?
Wow. So I have BOTAR and Dropkick Murphys tied for 25th, with nothing at 26. This same question was asked earlier about the #24th artist, which, once again, is non-existant. So, the answer for that should suffice: “BOTAR = I wish! As for Dropkick Murphys, I’m *STILL* outraged about being offered free tickets to see them with the Bosstones last month and then being physically unable to make it. (Instead, I got to bike 50 miles in a day! At least I raised money for cancer research…) So, never.”

    32. Is there a song by 44 that makes you happy?
    Freezepop - Brainpower

    33. What is you favourite album by 9?
Considering Cold War Kids only have the one album (Robbers and Cowards) out at the moment, there isn’t much of a contest. That album, however, is quite brilliant. While on the subject of Cold War Kids albums; ZOMGOFMGBBQ!!! New album Loyalty To Loyalty comes out September 23! As you can tell, I am very excited, because as far as I can tell from the one song (as well as less than a minute of another song) that I’ve been able to hear from it, it sounds like it’ll be able to give Robbers and Cowards a run for its money!

    34. What is the worst song by 46?
Worst Ryan Harvey song? Oh, geez, I have no idea. I haven’t listened to him nearly enough to start picking favorites (or the opposite of that), especially since I haven’t heard even the majority of his music yet. It’s defiantly good stuff though!

    35. What was the first song you ever heard by 34?
At the moment, 34 is a tie between illScarlett and Bomb The Music Industry! and I have no idea for either of them.

    36. What is you favourite album by 42?
Well, considering I only have 2 EP’s by Pinback, and not any of their actual albums, I can’t really say. I guess Some Voices, because the presence of Manchuria alone is worth the price of the CD!

    37. How many times have you seen 39 live?
Lawl, like Skindred would ever come to Halifax…

    38. What is your favourite album by 35?
    Linkin Park – Meteora

    39. What was the first song you ever heard by 28?
Westbound Train – Please Forgive Me (sounds like a good enough guess. It was ONE of the first I heard, at least.)

    40. What is you favourite album by 7?
Hmm, that’s kind of a tough question to answer, really. Evan Greer doesn’t really release his music in albums per say, rather he seems to put out CDs / collections of mp3s whenever he has enough new songs to do so. According to Last.FM, I’ve listened to Live In Jon Booth’s Attic the most, which I could agree to as being my favourite of his albums; that show had quite the rad setlist.

    I am 16% mainstream.

…So basically I took a hell of a lot of my time jotting down numbers (well, copying and pasting, I still have better thing to do… I guess.) to find out what I already know. Except now I have a precise calculation of how obscure my music is to brag about! Woo!
