Sobre mim

I use this site rarely, altho I do have Amarok (on Linux) and WinAmp (on my Windoze box) sending my tracks here. I don't have the gumption to build a playlist, but if I did, it would include a lot of so-called classic rock like Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix, etc. I really dig blues-oriented rock and going further back, the Piedmont Blues stylings of Sonny Terry & Brownie McGhee and Blind Boy Fuller are really awesome. Straightforward acoustic guitar and harmonica stuff.

But my all-time favorite band is Pink Floyd--in all their incarnations. From Syd's crazy pop stuff through the spacey Meddle and Atom Heart Mother, all the way up to the Roger Waters-influenced albums like Animals and The Wall. I love it all! (Not so much A Momentary Lapse of Reason--The Division Bell was much better.) David Gilmour's and Waters' solo albums have also been great in their own right. I was lucky enough to catch Gilmour and Rick Wright (RIP) on the On An Island Tour and Waters on both legs of his last North American tour! But the two were at their peak when working together. I like to think of Gilmour as a guitarist looking for a songwriter and Waters a songwriter looking for a guitarist.

More recent music I like leans towards the blues-oriented stuff like The White Stripes, and I kinda like--but I'll admit I rarely give much new stuff a chance. I was born in 1969--what do you want from me?!? :D
