On tracks 1 and 3 I could really see them as a trio in a small beatnik club - all 3 wearing shades, one with a beret, and all intensely grooving to their tunes. I mean this in a positive way BTW. I really found some resonance with these two tracks. Not sure why - but I was reminded of the liner notes to Morton Subotnik's "Sidewinder" from the '70's - these tracks make extremely good use of their time. On this go-round - I didn't find as much to like in tracks 2 and 4. Perhaps later....

Yes it's pretty good imho-I can't say there's a track as good as Blood On My Hands but it's certainly worth picking up.

I've only managed one time through MvOT's Vertical Ascent so far and even then it didn't have my full attention. I think my reaction is, similar to your confrères on disquiet, that the 4 pieces are somewhat emotionless. But I am not nearly as experienced a listener to this type of music as others, and it may well be that repeated listenings will be rewarded.

Hi Colin, yes i've had most of the 2009 remasters for about a fortnight, but i'd been delayed getting to them until a few days ago, as i had a deadline for a new composition. i've now listened carefully to all of them except for "Tour de France" as i don't have that one yet, which is kind of irritating, as i've extensively re-written my article & it's currently in limbo until i get round to that one! On balance, i'm not impressed with the 2009 versions, & i'll probably be sticking with the 2004s as my preferred choice.
