18 Song

A few days ago, i posted the 18 most influential bands in my life.

To add to that, i'm gonna list my 18 favourite songs and explain why i like them, and why they're important to me.
Again, the songs are in no particular order, but, my favourite song in the world, will be last.

1 - Swing, Swing - First and foremost, this song, introduced me into the world of "rock". I may have gotten out of pop music through a different song. People can argue that The All-American Rejects are "pop" music, but I don't care. This is a quality song, and it's one that i've always loved. It's never been my favourite song, but, it's always been underlaying in my mind.
Favourite lyric - "My heart is crushed by a former love
Can you help me find a way
To carry on again."

2 - Music Box - This was really the first song i fell in love with. From the moment i heard the music box intro to the song, aptly named, i thought, now this is a song. Then the guitars and drums come thundering in. It's such a good contrast between, soft and loud, and that's what i really like about it.
Favourite lyric - "We are not alone, we feel an unseen love
We are sons and heirs of grace
We are children of a light that never dims"

3 - This Armistice - It's only recently i've re-discovered this band, and this song, but i'm so glad i did. This is another beautifully written and performed song. The chorus, is just, so amazing. I love the way that the harmonies bounce off each other. One of the most underrated songs on my playlist.
Favourite lyric - Give me gravity, give me clarity,
Give me something to rely on"

4 - Smile In Your Sleep - Great song. I didn't manage to get a hold of the proper copy of the song for a while, but as soon as i did, i was stunned at how different it was the to the version i had! It improved my love for the song. It's one of the best song's on the album, and it just makes me think about how everything is pretty damn good. I feel good when i listen to the song. It's full of energy and it gives me energy when i listen to it! Upon reading the lyrics again, i've realised that actually, i can relate to the sing completely as it's similar to a situation i'm in.
Favourite lyric - "And I have reasons to believe that
I'm not the only one you spend this time with, but I'll stay…"

5 - The Innocent Ones - I don't know what it is about this song, that makes me love it so much. Maybe it's the 3 minutes of instrumental at the end that convey the message of the song just as well as the lyrics do. I used this song in making a video for my A Level project and i think it worked perfectly. I can relate to this song, even though the content is not similar to anything that's happened to me.
Favourite lyric - "Because we're too consumed, too shallow
Playing the victims, playing the innocent ones"

6 - My Darkest Hour - I love this song so much! It's another one of those energy filled songs. I can listen to it and forget about everything else, because i get so involved with the song. It may not be a intricate song, but it does the job well. Great song to sing along with, it's my ultimate head banging song. It's also my ring tone on my phone :)
Favourite lyric - "You left me at the altar
My heart in my hand
I am tired and broken
Haunted by memories of
The life you've stolen"

7 - Porcelain - This song reminds me of my best friend. I don't know why, maybe it's because i sent it to her once. But, whenever i listen to it, it makes me feel how lucky i am to have a best friend like the one i have. It also conveys how i feel about her. Even though, the band itself isn't a great one, this song really stood out to me. It's a smooth, slow song, and it really gives a lot of meaning to a lot of things.
Favourite lyric - "You're porcelain, such fragile skin,
Just let me hold you. I'll be gentle. I won't drop you.
This time I'll be careful."

8 - Sonny - Another slow one, i think i like this one because it's a beautiful song. The vocals on it are so amazing, and the lyrics match the mood. I like the way how there is alot going into this song, yet it sounds so simple. It starts off very relaxing, and then the guitars come in about half way through and gives that little bit extra to make it something special. I can listen to this song, and it helps me to think about everything in my life.
Favourite lyric - "You are bleak
You are beautiful
No matter what they say"

9 - The Little Things - In spite of me being extremely sentimental, this song reminds me of my ex-girlfriend, who i'm currently still very close. She sent me this song before we were official. It's a beautiful song, sung in a way that makes you think that she really means what she's singing. Everything Colbie sings in this song is exactly the way i feel about her, and it just reminds me how lucky i am, just knowing this girl :)
Favourite lyric - "I wanna break free, I wanna make it
Closer to your eyes, get your attention
Before you pass me by"

10 - Set The Sails, Red Beret - I love this song, because Rookie Of The Year are a very underrated band, but they are my little secret :).
This song is my very own little secret song, and i like listening to it because, it's just so amazing, how such a good piece of music cannot be so popular. It's got everything, from the very dark introduction, to the singalong verses and the upbeat choruses. There's no way i could ever get bored of this song.
Favourite lyric - "Was there something I could do?
We had things to get us through.
Was there something that, something you don't know?"

11 - Friendly Fire - Another secret underrated song. It's an acoustic song, with some soft electric guitar in the background. No drums or bass, and that's how i like it. The vocals are soft, and it really goes with the song. The song itself sounds relatively upbeat, but it isn't. It's just really catchy, and i love listening to it :)
Favourite lyric - "And I don't need a dictionary,
For all the names you call me,
You're not as clever
As you think you are."

12 - My Heroine - I think, even though sometimes i will say otherwise, this is my favourite Silverstein song. It's pure brilliance and i don't think they can top it. Hoping they will haha. It really, is a well thought out song and it has everything i could ever want. It's not too heavy and not too quiet and listening to it, like others, makes me forget about everything bad in my life, and fills me with happiness. This song gives me hope.
Favourite lyric - "But under your covers more torture than pleasure
And just past your lips there's more anger than laughter"

13 - Red Sky - Another Thrice track, Red Sky, i didn't like on first hearing, but after a couple of listens, after understanding the lyrics, this song really shone through to me. It's a beautiful song, from start to finish and there is not one flaw in it. It reminds me of happier times, even tho it in itself, is not an entirely happy song.
Favourite lyric - "Can you see the sky turn red?
As morning's light breaks over me,
Know tonight we'll make our bed
at the bottom of the sea."

14 - Dance Inside - At first listening to "Move Along" i just cast this song aside, not thinking much of it. How wrong i was to do so. It wasn't until my friend told me that this song reminded her of me, that i realised how amazing this song is. Now, when i listen to this song, it reminds me of her. It reminds me of all past friendships that have gone missing or wrong. The song itself is about sex, but it's sung in such a way that it makes it so perfect.
Favourite lyric - "I'll be fine, you'll be fine.
this moment seems so long
Don't waste now, precious time
we'll dance inside the song"

15 - It's Not A Fashion Statement, It's A Death Wish - I really love this song. It's got a great catchy riff at the beginning, and although, i don't know what it's about, it wakes me up, fills me with excitement. It's also my favourite song to play on the guitar. This is My Chemical Romance as they should be.
Favourite Lyric - "
I will avenge my ghost with every breath I take
I'm coming back from the dead and I'll take you home with me
I'm taking back the life you stole"

16 - The Everglow - I haven't had this song for a very long time, but it's stuck with me. I love Mae's singers voice, and i think this song really brings it out. Giving high notes, the pitch is always perfect. The chorus catchy beyond belief. I could never get bored of this song. It makes me happy, even when i'm in the worst of moods, this song will always lift my spirits.
Favourite lyric - "
Whoa, whoa.
And our hearts are on The Everglow."

17 - You're Ever So Inviting - From the abrupt start of the song to the very end, this song is definitely the most intricate song. The heaviest, the most extreme, loudest track of this list. Underoath delivered something brilliant when they produced "Define the Great Line" and this is the best of that collection. There's no great reason for me picking this song, apart from the fact, it's a fucking brilliant song.
Favourite lyric - "Oh, my story's growing, it is on my last request
Don't make me feel so contradicting
There's no room for cheating and being yourself
Failure leaves such a bitter taste in my mouth"

18 - Blue And Yellow - My favourite song in the world. Beautiful lyrics, beautiful music. Whatever mood i am in, and whatever mood i want to be in, this song will always help me. It's always in my head, and it'll always be in my head i hope. It took me a while to realise how much this song means to me, but now i know, it will always mean something to me.
Favourite lyric - "should've done something but I've done it enough
by the way your hands were shaking
rather waste some time with you."
