I'm very much excited about the new Neko Case album.

I haven't heard a single track from it yet but I already know it's going to be amazing. I had to write a journal entry about it because this review has me excited! -
Santogold has to change her name to Santigold
Fev 18 2009, 7h04
Yes, I'm distressed that Santi White aka Santogold has now changed her stage name to Santigold. Probably for the same reason Green Jellö had to become Green Jellÿ. I don't know. All I know is now it's going to be a pain in my ass to have to type Santigold and Santogold in iTunes when I want to queue her stuff up. Bleah. -
New last.fm layout
Jul 21 2008, 22h46
I understand the need for constant improvement, even if just to keep things 'fresh'.
So with that I said I like most of what has been changed. But if I could have one thing changed it would be the top bar to change from the ridiculous 'red marker stripe' back to the old juicy red bar. If it were two things I would change the obnoxiously large player in the right side down a few sizes.
But otherwise I appreciate the changes. The new charts are much, much better. -

What got me started into music
Mai 14 2008, 5h48
Well as a kid I was always into music, but just not really "into" music if you know what I mean. Growing up in the 1980s I only listened to my parents' music (mostly alot of Fleetwood Mac, Doobie Brothers and Rod Stewart) until this little stoner kid named Brandon moved in next door. He and his older brother Clint brought me over to their room that was covered in hair-metal posters. I thought it was the coolest thing ever. We listened to Twisted Sister and Iron Maiden until my mom told me it was time to come home. Brandon took me to the record store one day and I bought my first cassette tape, which was Quiet Riot's Metal Health. I liked the first song off it but quickly realized that Bon Jovi's Slippery When Wet was much superior. I became obsessed with Bon Jovi until around the time Milli Vanilli and Vanilla Ice came out.
So far you can tell my taste as a kid pretty much sucked. By another year or two I was a sophomore in high school and my new best friend Bob White popped in a cassette tape at his house and I freaked out. It was Siamese Dream. The song I was hearing was
Today but I didn't know it yet. I said "who the crap is that?" And then he popped in a tape Meantime by Helmet. I decided right there that Bob had to teach me all he knew about music. I realized I had no clue how cool good music really was. I spent the next two years wearing out the tapes of Nevermind and Gish. I then got a CD player and a flannel shirt as grunge was in full swing at my high school. I bought Superunknown the day it came out and showed it to all my friends at school. Brian Holt let me borrow his new Biohazard CD if he could tape Superunknown. By this time I had become obsessed with Green Day as I bought both Kerplunk and Dookie. By the time I was a senior I was singing along to every track on Weezer (Blue), especially The Sweater Song.
By college my CD pouch had almost 200 CDs in it and then hanging out with my friends in the dorms and apartments we discovered Napster. Since that summer I have been building an MP3 collection. It's now around 80GB and has been added to since, oh, about 1998.
I'll go into stuff I like in more detail later.
