hello again, got the dt770's on and i absolutely hear(feel) the over-bright resonance in that upper range now. i hear it on my home system as well, now that it is -completely- quiet. there is something annoying i did not hear earlier, but i recall having the windows open that day. my copy is FLAC and i'm too lazy to decomp it to put a decent spectralizer on it but something definitely makes me reach for eq on this one and roll off gently around 3kHz like you say. interesting to note that the vocal loops from IKHO did not graduate to the intrusion remix, but he is the one who mastered this recording as well. whether the initial error was made while mixing the parts or finalizing is hard to say, but surely he could have made a correction.

Not to but in on a conversation, but I am sort of aware of the loudness problem (compression, lack of dynamics, snare drums not having the punch they're supposed to have; remastering=compression, usually, etc.) I am wondering however, if that is all Clark does. It sounds more purposeful to me, like he's using loudness to craft the sounds he wants to, not just like a toddler not knowing when to stop. I mean, unlike Metallica's loudness turd, his sounds góód. Buzzing and crackling, teetering on the edge, like it's about to discharge.
