• Can't You Feel the Knife?

Mon 28 Sep – Grizzly Bear, Beach House

Beach House, though a good band that I enjoy from time to time, were kinda sleepy and I found myself fighting dozing off. Then Grizzly Bear took the stage.

Such a wonderful band. So talented. I found myself in awe of their ability to translate their songs live. Drummer Chris Bear would fill in moments of instrument change with simple yet jazzy drumbeats.

    Highlights:

    Knife
While You Wait on the Others
    Fine For Now
    Two Weeks
On A Neck, On A Spit

    My favorite concert of 2009.

Thu 30 Apr – Franz Ferdinand, Born Ruffians

Good God. What a show. Born Ruffians were a stellar opening act. Then Franz came out and took control of every bit of what was left of the month of April. Standout songs were:

    Jacqueline
    40ft
    Take Me Out
    Lucid Dreams
    This Fire

During 'Lucid Dreams' Born Ruffians came out and played on percussion. Amazing.

Then Robert Hardy, FF bassist (who was checking out my girlfriend the whole show) gave her his pick specifically out of a horde of girls. That was awesome. She also got a pick that Alex Kapranos tossed. Kapranos crowd surfed briefly, and I strummed his guitar.
