I hear you about photography club not really having it together. I've only been to one, and all they did was talk about elections, and I guess they only just got the club running again recently, but they also just got Michael Grillo as an adviser, and he's wonderful. I think I'm going to test out a few meetings, and see what (if anything) they actually do. Meetings are Thursdays from 6-7 in the Union, in case you're interested in trying again. Yeah, that makes sense, tuition is a bitch. Unfortunately since I moved out of the dorms I haven't picked up a campus paper, so everything that happens is lost on me. I can definitely appreciate photo journalism as a whole, though, and I've considered the possibility of working in it/I'm a little bit jealous that you are. Either way, you should definitely do more landscapes and update your deviantart, or better yet, get a flickr! There's also a photo club on campus (which I just learned about a few weeks ago) and they might be worth checking out, if for no other reason than getting you back to your landscapes.

The photography classes at UMaine. Photo 1 and 2 were fantastic, and if you haven't worked in film I think you'd love it. I'm in digital photography right now, and it's absolutely killing me. It's a bunch of people who have crappy point and shoots and don't know how to use them. There are maybe three people who I can stand in the whole class, other than that when people do something worth looking at they've done it accidentally. I know that sounds really pretentious and mean, but the images they're turning in are blurry past recognition, insanely color cast, and clearly stalked on the mall with a telephoto lens. Given, they're making improvements with every assignment, but I still wish there were more people with photos like yours. Have you done much lately? Your pictures all seem to be two years old, and you really have an eye for it and it would kill me if you'd stopped.
