Okay, so I have been a fan of
M.I.A. since 2005 when she first released her album
Arular. So for the past, oh, 4 years pretty much I along with others who have known about
M.I.A., and her awesomeness have been listening to her music. Now, this little movie called the
Pineapple Express has released their trailer for the movie with her fantastic song
Paper Planes and all of the sudden, a song which the fans have known about since last year at this time has made the song one of the top sings on the charts today. Not only is this song almost a year old, but the meaning behind the song is not something in my opinion that should be associated with a stoner comedy. Now in no way am I dissing the movie, nor the new fans of
M.I.A. (I mean, she is fantastic! How could people not like her?), however, I find it kind of ironic that she has been around for so long and all of the sudden she has been thrust into the spotlight even with just recently retiring because of a song in a movie promotion.
Oh well. At least I can say I was there at the begining and was one of the lucky people who saw her last show ever. Suckers!
