Back to pop music at last ... listening to the tremendous Sam Cooke and one or two other civil rights pop favourites!

Hey!! I think you mean Erie PA but either way, nope! I'm more or less permanently resided in Germantown MD! HOORAY! If anything someday we might move closer to the city, Virginia somewhere, Falls Church or something, but that's a long ways off right now. Graduated in May, got a job and am moving into a new rented townhouse this weekend! :) I don't visit home too much, a few times a year maybe, one of which is Christmas. This year I missed out on the cherry blossoms here, and will miss out on the wonderful fall colors back home. Not fair! So how are you???? I have already visited a few museums in the city, love going in whenever I can but lately I've been soooo busy on the weekends. I've been on an oldies kick lately for some reason, but it doesn't show much on my last.fm because I'm never home and therefore never use this computer to play music anymore. It scrobbles when I update my iPod but that is so rare for me. Too poor to buy music right now! :) Such is the life of a college grad!

ps / I hould clarify, or emphasize, that Simon & Garfunkel were one of the biggest models for the Pines, way back, along with the Everly Brothers whom we both love. In fact what detailed knowledge of S&G I gained was really under the influence of Pamela Berry who I think knew it all before me. I didn't mention Hendrix just now: I don't own his records, and a bit of psychedelia goes a long way, but of course he can be explosive and thrilling. Oh, and finally, one musical hero that one can only ever dream of emulating: Burt Bacharach.

Are there any? Are you kidding? Check out my lastfm chart for starters where I think the Byrds are about #6 with over 300 plays - and that's not mentioning the hundreds of times I've played them on CD and even tape unregistered by lastfm. Otherwise: I don't own Beatles records but do think they were the greatest; I've had the odd Stones phase and once covered one of their songs live; Simon & Garfunkel have been very dear to me; the VU, of course; I have some girl-group and Supremes discs though not an expert on that; I admire The Who and The Kinks (who wouldn't?). My Beach Boys knowhow is a lot less than most pop fans, I just never picked up on them in great detail. But probably my favourite person in the history of music released his first LP in 1962, and his 757th or so this year.

I was just going to remark that the Beatles are your current #1, when I saw that, whaddya know, the Pines are your #2! ... Meanwhile Bart & Friends - would that be the record with 'Lodi' on it? I do have a few of those songs at least. (In fact maybe I have them all!)
