The Year That Was - Looking Back On 2008

Jan 4 2009, 21h51

2008 year was not a bad year for music and its listeners and lovers - we have seen better ones, but also worse ones, so let's be happy with what 2008 had in store for us. These are my favourites from last year:

Oasis - Dig Out Your Soul
Glasvegas - Glasvegas
Ja, Panik - The Taste And The Money
Gisbert zu Knyphausen - Gisbert zu Knyphausen

In this order, those were definitely my four very favourite albums of 2008. But some others were impressive as well. In no particular order, these are:

Vampire Weekend - Vampire Weekend
The Indelicates - American Demo
Paul Weller - 22 Dreams
The Wind Whistles - Window Sills
Dirty Pretty Things - Romance At Short Notice
Travis - Ode to J. Smith
The Hold Steady - Stay Positive
Littl'ans - Primitive World
Bon Iver - For Emma, Forever Ago
Foals - Antidotes
Marilies Jagsch - Obituary For A Lost Mind

Of course, last year also saw the release of some fantastic tracks. I am too lazy to put them in any order, but I like every single one of them very much, so to hell with ordering them!

Oasis - Bag It Up
The Futureheads - The Beginning of the Twist
Ja, Panik - thomas sagt
Gisbert zu Knyphausen - spieglein, spieglein
Glasvegas - It's My Own Cheating Heart That Makes Me Cry
Vampire Weekend - A-Punk
Nada Surf - Whose Authority
Oasis - I Want To Live In A Dream (In My Record Machine)
Dirty Pretty Things - Tired Of England
The Wind Whistles - Good Friends Won't Rip You Off
Van She - Kelly
The Hold Steady - Sequestered In Memphis
Cold War Kids - Something Is Not Right With Me
