Papa Roach
I don't give a shit about how gay you think they are, they were great. It was my third time seeing them and as always, very energetic performance and good setlist.

Static-X
Didn't see the entire show, but the part I saw was awesome. I also saw them back in '07, but they seemed a lot better this year. I'm most certainly going to listen to some more Static-X in the next few weeks.

After this I didn't feel so good and just went back to my tent, which was a wise decision because apparently Mötley Crüe sucked.

Black Stone Cherry
I only know the song Blind Man, and I heard them play it while I was on my way to the festivalsite, which sucked. They still did decent IMO, considering their genre isn't one of my favorites.

Legion of the Damned
Fuck yes. Best show on Saturday, and certainly one of the highlights on GMM this year. Also, they recorded a DVD, I can't wait for that shit to be released.

Slipknot
I wasn't really that interested in seeing them,but against my expectations they put down a fairly sweet show, and played most of the songs I (sort of) like.

Sunday
Warbringer
They came, they thrashed, they ruled. I only knew Combat Shock, but I fucking loved the entire show/setlist. Most certainly worth looking further into.

Lamb of God
Maybe I was standing in a shitty place, but the bass drum seemed abnormally loud where I was standing. Other then that not a lot of complaints, Randy Blythe delivered a very energetic performance.

DevilDriver
GO AND MEET THE WRETCHED MOTHERFUCKERS. This was it, my favorites GMM performance this year. I loved the setlist, the crowd was going crazy. Just one complaint, FUCK YOU CROWDSURFERS. A few I can handle, but getting kicked against the head 3 times during one song is too much.

I was planning on seeing Anthrax and possibly Disturbed, but I was so fucking tired I went back to the campsite until CoB.

Children of Bodom
The second time I've seen them, and the second time I have to bitch about the setlist. No Follow The Reaper. No Silent Night, Bodom Night and no Hatecrew Deathroll. Yet you do play Hellhounds on My Trail and Children of Decadence (granted, CoD isn't bad, but no FtR, SN, BN or HCD either). Other then that they were good, but seriously Alexi, fix your setlist.

Conclusion: even though I didn't as many bands as last year, I saw some really good shows (Static-X, LoTD, Warbringer and DevilDriver in particular). Just no Marilyn Manson next year.

Sun 22 Feb – Blood Drunks Crawling Up Your EU Tour

Fuck intros.
Diablo was okay, they were good at what they do but after a few songs it started to sound a bit alike. I do find it awesome they played a song in tribute to Chuck Schuldiner.

Cannibal Corpse was awesome, it does kind of suck they only got 45 minutes, and it does suck they didn't play Devoured By Vermin, but otherwise great setlist and performance. George threatening to kill us if we didn't buy Evisceration Plague was pretty amusing too.

Children of Bodom. First of all, NO NEEDLED 24/7? FOLLOW THE REAPER? ARE YOU DEAD YET?? KISSING THE SHADOWS? WHAT BLASPHEMOUS MADNESS IS THIS?! Alright, the actual show was good, although the vocals didn't sound loud enough. Setlist was pretty good (the flaws are mentioned above). The sound quality overall (outside of the vocals) was actually pretty good. I am still pissed that they played songs like Living Dead Beat, Children of Decadence, Bed of Razors, Angels Don't Kill and Sixpounder while not playing Needled 24/7, Follow The Reaper and Are You Dead Yet?. (I was expecting them not to play KtS)

Synopsis: A princess is imprisoned in a castle, guarded by a fire-breathing dragon!

HEAVY METAL: The protagonist arrives on a Harley Davidson, kills the dragon, drinks some beer, gets a tattoo, and then fucks the princess.

PROG METAL: The protagonist arrives and plays a 26 minute guitar solo. The dragon falls asleep and the princess looks for the heavy metal protagonist.

POWER METAL: The protagonist arrives on a white unicorn, kills the dragon with a magic sword, rescues the princess, makes love to her in an enchanted forest and rides off into the sunset.

VIKING METAL: The protagonist arrives on a ship, beheads the dragon with an axe, eats its carcass, rapes the princess to death, and burns the castle down.

DOOM METAL: The protagonist arrives and tells the princess he can't live without her, then commits suicide by feeding himself to the dragon.

BLACK METAL: The protagonist arrives in the dark of night, kills the dragon and drinks it's blood,and impales it in front of the castle.Then he rapes the princess, sacrificing her to Satan, and then rapes her carcass.Then he impales the princess next to the dragon.

SPEED METAL: Suddenly there is a short solo, the dragon is confused by someone screaming weird stuff, the princess realizes she's been violated, and she's still looking for the one who did this.

BRUTAL DEATH METAL: The protagonist arrives, and slays the dragon and the princess with a chainsaw and a heavy hammer, then he dismembers the corpses in a lot of bloody flesh pieces.

FOLK METAL: The protagonist arrives with some friends playing accordions, violins, flutes and many more weird instruments, the dragon falls asleep (because of all the dancing). Then all leave........ without the princess.

GORE METAL: The protagonist arrives, kills the dragon and spreads his guts in front of the castle, fucks the princess and kills her.Then he fucks the dead body again, slashes her belly and eats her guts. Then he fucks the carcass for the third time, burns the corpse and fucks the ashes for the last time.

GRIND METAL: The protagonist arrives, screams something completely undecipherable for about 2 minutes and then leaves...

GOTHIC METAL: The princess in a velvet costume starts singing soprano. The protagonist completes the duet by adding the growly beast part, while the dragon plays the flute. Suddenly he swallows up the pipe and accidently scorches the beauty and the beast and suffocates to death. All their souls are damned in hell's eternity.

INDUSTRIAL METAL: The protagonist arrives wearing greasy overcoat, makes an obscene gesture towards dragon, and gets escorted out of fairy tale land by security guards.

CHRISTIAN METAL: The protagonist rides in on his way home from church and sings a mushy power ballad to the dragon about how much Optimus loves him and that the dragon should turn to Him. The Dragon is immediately converted, and when the princess wants to "thank" the protagonist he replies, "sorry, but I don't believe in having sex before marriage."

GLAM METAL: The protagonist arrives, the dragon laughs at the guy's appearance and lets him enter. He steals the princess' make up and tries to paint the castle in a beautiful pink colour.

BATTLE METAL: The protagonist arrives with a legion of a hundred brave footman, war chariots and a dozen elite warriors and, as a master tactician, flanks the dragon in a bloody siege that lasts six hours. The princess gets bored


EMO: The protagonist sees the dragon and moans about how hard it will be to get the princess to fall in love with him, He gets eaten. The princess is very happy, because he was a whiny fag anyway.

Sat 1 Nov – Sabaton, Grailknights, Black Knight

Black Knight canceled, making Grailknights the first and only opening act, and I must say they were alot better then I expected. I didn't know any of their songs, but they were pretty sweet. One of friends passed out 2/3'd in their show.
What I saw was good.

After that Sabaton got on stage, and it was epic. I saw them live for the 4th time there, and it was the best show of all 4. Great setlist (really didn't expect Angels Calling and Counterstrike, although In The Name of God or any Metalizer track would have been a fine addition), good audience and great effort from the band. Mÿhr smashing his keyboards to bits was cool too, my cousin got a piece. Overall a really satisfying performance.
