Sobre mim
I like whatever pleases my ears; I don't restrict myself from certain types of music. It's varied and it comes down to personal taste.. but most of it all it's never about trend, politics, or all else that affects people's judgment when selecting music to listen to.
That said, I don't care if bands aren't original; if an album has attitude, musicianship and well written material I'm going to enjoy it, derivative or not. Sacrificing production quality to hide the flaws in your musicianship or to create an atmosphere that isn't there is ridiculous. There are less than perfect production qualities that may well add to some bands' "atmosphere" (in turn their mystique), and that is great. But to deliberately sabotage your sound for some ideal which ultimately appeases in the eyes of the most narrow-minded seems whorishly elitist (and therefore trendier than a band who, say, uses keyboards in attempt to expand the depth of their atmosphere). Certainly more whorish than a band that tightens sound quality over time (through maturity and practice) and garners a growth in fan-base or record sales as a result (not at some record label's behest or band's master-plan for pop-chart domination like some whiny faggots would have you come to believe). With that in mind, this isn't a declaration of love for all things Cradle of Filth or Dimmu Borgir-like either; or a justification for what I would consider poor taste... merely an observation into the stupid, memetic behavior of the self-proclaimed "free thinking", "underground" crowd.
Anyways, it's always been about the music; philosophy, politics, and popularity be damned.
BTW - I suppose it was a little hypocritical to cite Dimmu Borgir or Cradle of Filth before, unless you consider that I own a DB cd or two, but more importantly if you understand that i have independently come to the conclusion that a good portion of DB and all CoF discs are the epitome of garbage.
