To be honest, I had almost completely given up with Muse… Their last album Absolution was all tripe bar two exceptional songs and I reckon the band knew this themselves.
However yesterday I decided to let bygones be bygones and I picked up a copy of Black Holes and Revelations from Morrisons of all places! (There is one record store on Holloway Road and you have to be so far up your own arse you're completely covered in your own shit to dare venture in there)
To my amazement I was completely blown away. Yeah, some tracks aren't as strong as others and theres always that one track on a muse album where you think; They must be taking the piss here… but it has by far the strongest collection of songs over any of their previous albums and it will elevate them to the worldwide stadium rock status, just like we always expected but were too scared to admit.
Besides any band with the balls to write a song called Knights of Cydonia which then turns out to be one of the most accomplised rock songs I've heard in a decade deserves that kind of fame and fortune.
