Thanks a lot! Great taste, your charts have pointed-out much overlooked areas in my taste. A Wild Beasts fan who calls it 'sitting room' is a real rarity.

Thanks for stopping by. I am greatly saddened by's changes. I listen to my radio a lot and my friends radio frequently. with this coming to an end, I will cancel my subscription. I don't tag my music [am I really missing something?] and I don't care about a discount on merch that I'm not going to buy!! It's cool to see who has visited my page, but it's not worth the $$ for just that. Perhaps it will mean that we will actually "talk" more to our friends! It's still not quite spring here. we are expecting a snow storm tonight! I love late winter snow!!

LAST.FM subscription model has changed for the worse. They're want to lose subscribers? They now have a monthly auto-renewing (out of cont-) rolling subscription model. Previously, the last 5 years, i was happy to renew for 6 months / 1year; now the choice is 1 monthly auto-renewing subscription. I am not for agreeing to this.I cancelled my Spotify subscription as soon as was subjected to this crude, inflexible business model. let me please decide how, on what, and when i spend my earnings. Previously i've always supported you with 6 monthly or annual subscriptions, where now is your loyalty to me? You are about to lose me (and many other regular subscribers). We are ready to throw money at you; are you so readily willing to dispense with us? Over my dead body will set you me up with a rolling subscription from here until the never-never. sorry, this isn't going to happen. Last.Fm i'm so disappointed in you!

It's a great picture, isn't it? Unfortunately, the pic is several years old and the costume is lost. It was a gift at the time, so I can't help with where to find a similar outfit, sorry. I can, however, compliment your taste in music!

Hello, I get what you mean. It's a beautiful album, very autumnal sounding (I think). Season's greeting to you too! :)

And a hello to you! Yes my Rev listens are rather low - for shame! Used to listen a lot in the past before scrobbling, but besides Snowflake Midnight i don't feel the urge to revisit them. Wish they'd hurry up with some new stuff though! I don't understand these fans either. I started with Secret Migration so that maybe affects the way you look at it. Not that into the Baker-era stuff, though some of its real good.

I feel about it pretty much the same way. It's not bad by any means, just not as impressive as Alligator, Boxer or High Violet. I fell in love with Sparklehorse recently. I guess that's hard to unsee. ;D

HoM is a conundrum ! a riddle, a question asked for amusment lol. Sometime HoM is up there with ST and other times ...well, for me that is. English Electric in my view sits comfortably with those two, to be honest I'm not a big OMD fan, kinda lost intrest after Crush, Architecture & Morality I would say is my favourite :-) First caught OMD at Glasgow Apollo in '79 the were supporting Gary Numan .... ahhhh wonderful times 8-) *** SSS ***

Sobre mim

"The white twisted clouds and the endless shades of blue in the ocean make the hum of the spacecraft systems, the radio chatter, even your own breathing disappear. There is no wind or cold or smell to tell you that you are connected to Earth. You have an almost dispassionate platform - remote, Olympian and yet so moving that you can hardly believe how emotionally attached you are to those rough patterns shifting steadily below."

(Thomas Stafford, astronaut & commander Apollo 10)

...and now the grizzly back-cover blurb about me:

Hmm so you want me to say something about myself... right now?? What is there to say, i like music; i thought we had already established that? perhaps I'm being too obvious (?). What do i like? Well.... it's all laid out in front of you... take a peek. (I'm not doing such a good job describing myself, am I ?). OK, howabout, something more oblique..... how would you like to see my firsts? (calm down, i said firsts, not fists. Concentrate please!)

First Artist I recall listening to: My mum placing me next to the family Decca record player was the easiest way to keep me a quiet & happy baby; And with my head resting gently on the lid, the cooing and crooning of that Irish charmer Val Doonican, would always entice quietly and without protest into the arms of Morpheus. For that I became inseparable from my Decca (and presumably it from me), though at some point I began to grow restless of Val's blarney and yearned for more vicarious thrills.... time to determine my own musical destiny and start buying my own records to listen to. Cue my first purchase, aged 6 and a half.

7" Single bought: New Seekers - Beg, Steal or Borrow (1972). A british Eurovision entry and according to Wikipaedia, sung in English no less. Wow! With that amount of talent we should have knocked the jury for 6. "Angleterre nul points!". At age 7 and a half, i decided i was going to marry Lynsay de Paul, but Lynsay never replied to my love troth. After such crushing disappointment I decided Karen Jones at number 14 was much nicer anyway (and far easier to write on my pencil-case)

My first LP: Blondie - Parallel Lines (1978 or 79). I'm so proud that I don't have to pretend or lie to you on this one. Today a well-worn LP sits proudly amongst its compatriots. I've never hidden it when guests have come around. And y'know, this is still a great LP to listen to...... "it's 11:59 and i wanna stay alive!". So you're wondering if i was a pretentious little brat, well musically I was quite the early adopter (sometimes a bit intense; but never precocious!) and by age 12 and a half i'd already devoured all punk had to offer me and had jumped bandwagons to the embryonic new wave scenes (it was those ice skating discos, Linda holding me up by my left arm and Sara by my right that converted me).

Gig: The Teardrop Explodes, Lancaster University, Oct 10th 1982. I don't recall much except that for most of the gig, that nice man Mr Cope was balanced very precariously aboard his strange microphone stand/seat construction. There may also been moderate self-mutilation and some auto-erotic honey smearing, but I'm a bit hazy on that. I recall everybody else being much older (maybe I mean taller), and that TTE didn't play Reward. You Bastards! (most vivid recollection of the event...stopping for fish 'n chips on the way home at a chippy on A6 that coincidentally was called "Fish & Chips" - i think!)

CD purchase: quite a difficult one this. i resisted those shiny little silver discs for so long in favour of the larger easily scratchable, electrostatically-friendly but warmer sounding vinyl disks. Vinyl is really heavy! especially a lot of vinyl but the clincher to convert was watching Kieran Prendiville demonstrating the indestructibility of CDs by getting out the honey and liberally coating a disc before inserting into the player for a (hopefully) flawless playback (live TV is so character building!). What impressed me the most was thinking he'd probably also seen Julian Cope on the same tour as me. Errm....where were we, Ah yes, first CD, I'm going with Belle & Sebastian - The Boy With The Arab Strap (BS, i hear you, no BS...errrm yes, BS! OK, I might revise this later but it's OK to say you like B&S isn't it... i mean.... they're quite innocuous & folky. no-one can take issue with a choice like this (?).... moving on .... onto my next first.... which is even more impressive still.

MP3 Download: Deep Blue Something - Breakfast at Tiffanys (Wiki says Uk #1 in 1995. Wiki is never wrong; The great British record-buying masses...possibly). Music on the computer, oh Yes! Sorry family, this is a really important event & i need more computer time to appreciate the revolution that is MP3 before you can have your play with Microsoft Encarta. The novelty effect of audio playback on computer at 96kbps far outstripped the staying power of the actual song. But i played it many many hundreds of times as it was initially my only song.....I gambled on a future where everything would be digital... and I junked that antiquated Decca gramaphone. Along came Napster, I felt vindicated, and overnight EVERYTHING changed.

OK so now you know a little about me..... please feel free to browse around and....oh sorry, was there something else still? my username? Well...ahem....let's just say I got into a lot of fights when i was younger. So why don't you just call me Day

... shiny pretty things
