I am posting this after my first listen-through of the album, and sadly… I am bored.
You'd think that the same man who was responsible for the phenomenal songwriting of Soundgarden's catalog and Euphoria Morning would have more to offer, but Carry On sounds more like a collection of pop rock at its blandest. Even the lyrics for the majority of the album are noticeably less creative when compared to his earlier work.
There are a few good songs, but no great songs. Or perhaps a more correct comparison would be that there are a few decent songs, but no good ones.
Come on Chris Cornell, I know you can do better than this.
