I'm a radio major. I want to be a music director at a radio station in Canada eventually. I know I'm at a great school for radio in the third largest market in the US, so I'm definitely going places as long as I work for it. I will be a music director some day, even if I have to move to Snotbucket, ID to do it. Or maybe it'll be more like Snotbucket, SK, but I'd prefer Snotbucket, BC.

For those of you who don't know, the music director is the one who actually makes the playlists. They usually use a program called Selector that helps with rotations and stuff. I once talked to a guy who worked at NPR in LA and when I said I wanted to be a music director, he said, "Oh, you want to program computers all day." And yeah, that's what music directors do, but there's so much you can do with Selector. And it takes effort to make sure those songs Selector chooses flow together and sound great.

So yeah, I got this great idea for a format and I want to share it with everyone, but I realize that if I make this idea public, someone might be able to steal it and then take the credit for my wonderful idea. So you'll just have to wait until I'm a big music director to find out when my new format sweeps the nation. And I promise it won't be anything like the Jack (http://www.iknowjack.com/) formats that are taking over now.

Let's just say you'll never look at a "light" radio station the same way again.
