I listen to music to hear beauty, to be infected, and to sense that which I have never sensed before. I've always appreciated being introduced to new and old-new artists by music lovers with broad taste.

My user pic comes from a documentary called Viva Tonal, the Dance Age (跳舞時代), about Taiwanese-language records from the late 1920s to the 1930s on the Columbia Nippon label in colonial Taiwan, under Japanese rule. This documentary encapsulates some of the thrils I get from music -- witnessing the syncretisms of culture, uncovering lost histories, preserving, as much as possible, the ephemeral human traces of the age which produced it.

You can find me on air at KALX Berkeley 90.7 FM, where I DJ freeform radio as the Native Disinformant. My current slot is every other Sunday night, 2100 ~ 2400 Pacific Standard Time.
