i saw Wire Train, Translator, and Romeo Void a number of times during their respective ascents in the early '80s San Francisco scene . Of those three, i was most impressed w/ Translator and actually produced a couple of shows with them at the old Mabuhay Gardens. the most memorable being a show they opened for The Nuns on Memorial Day weekend, '81. The Nuns had been one of SF's premiere first wave punk bands, and hadn't played in almost two years. So their reemergence was widely anticipated. however, Translator completely upstaged them in front of a packed audience, pretty much dooming the veteran band's comeback hopes. Translator was signed by Howie Klein to his 415 label shortly thereafter.

i didn't see a review of your Knitting Factory show, so if you have the time, and it is not too much trouble, please drop me a shout or e-mail on the bands' respective performances. i would be interested to hear how these '80s stalwarts fared, and what the overall vibe was like that night. Thanks, ~gazy~ PS: i apologize for the length of this shout. i guess i just got inspired when i saw that you had recently done this show. it instantly brought back some old memories
