Thanks! I appreciate it! My website is super out of date but I think you'd dig this more recent drawing of mine: http://th02.deviantart.net/fs70/PRE/i/2014/296/1/7/fz__conceptual_continuity_by_nickprolart-d83u86q.png

Well, so far from what I've listened to, I really enjoyed Saltillo, which I believe a buddy rec'd to me earlier but I neglected. But yeah, that album was excellent. Author & Punisher was pretty interesting as well, I'm gettin' ready to check out Blackholepit. Thanks for the recs, man.

That MUST be it. Thanks, and yes, they certainly are, if you know of any similar bands, I'd damn near piss myself if you rec'd them to me. The "similar artists" Last.fm has aren't really all that similar in my opinion. BTW, Inception=mindgasm, and it's always nice to see some Cthulhu.

Hey man, how's it going? Don't beat yourself up for not buying my stuff, I don't believe in charging for it anyway. Donations are fine in all but I usually just end up blowing whatever I make on a new Steam game or something, I dunno. Anyways, to describe the music, I really don't go into songwriting, usually, with a predetermined idea in mind. Basically I listen to as many different kinds of music as I can, take all my favorite parts from everything, and smash it all together until I get something that works. I don't think I've ever used the same general technique on more than one project. 90% of everything I do is just experimentation gone right. Recently I just started a side project named Lord Hobo where I can make/release more "normal" music. LH's first album was just released on my Bandcamp page, check it out if you want. Probably not your style, but people have seemed to like it so far, so I dunno. :/

Hey Dan! I don't check this thing all that often these days since I don't have a computer or iPod that reliably scrobbles right now. But it does yell at me in my e-mail if something happens. Also, my first thought when I saw my e-mail was "Hunh, I wonder which Dan that is. I know a few Dans that could be on Last FM... Oh wow, that clown clears up which Dan this is. So does the cat drinking absinthe, the lucha mask and the Hunter S. Thompson quote. This is definitely THAT Dan."

I'm glad someone else can appreciate how much of a cesspit the midwest is in regards to music, I didn't listen to music the majority of my life because I had no way of being exposed to anything good. If there was no internet or last.fm...

That shitty noise rock/sludge aspect of GASH that sounds like it wants to be Thirlwell but isn't. Best example is that awful song Downfall which I can't stand. I'm not very good on describing music--I'm not actually a music nerd myself, I live in Nebraska and I feel lucky just to find someone that has heard of, say, Tom Waits, so I really can only find new music online, especially on last.fm, and can only listen when I have time and aren't too stressed out over life (otherwise I am too distracted). Throw in my natural reclusiveness = my exposure to, and vocabulary of, music is limited. This is the kind of crap that comes out of Omaha, btw: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TjjEMkNomRc

I can't seem to the term in any interviews, though I could've sworn seeing someone, somewhere use that phrase to describe it. Whatever, looks like my memory is fucked up. But I'm pretty sure this is not a creation of my feeble mind. Maybe it was in a review somewhere.

I use the term because I believe it's the term Thirlwell himself used--unless my memory is fucked up.

I agree with you except for one thing, I actually like They Are Not So True. All the other ones you named I can't stand. I'm generally not into the "psycho rock" thing, so...
