Excellent, I shall look into them. And yeah I need to play all those games before I can listen to the soundtracks!! I love games but I'm too slack to play them. To be honest you've probably listened to a lot of the good instrumental music I could recommend...Forest Swords are really cool. And if you don't mind a bit of ambient aspidistrafly are great. If I think of any more I'll send them your way

woooh, same to you. Nice to see more Motoro Faam fans (from Australia too!). I'll be using your charts for recommendations, and if you have anything you want to personally rec me, hit me up at any time. I'm open to anything.

Thanks for the recommendation! I listened to it the other day. It's quite awesome. Sounds kinda like what would happen if world's end girlfriend made classical music. :) Which I love. Unfortunately, I still have not watched Totoro. I've just been a little busy lately! :) Not enough time just to sit down to a good movie. Ah well :)

Yeah, yeah. :) I actually have My Neighbor Totoro right now. I'll give it a watch tomorrow and tell you how it was. :) I've heard all the rave reviews about Studio Ghibli, so I know all about them, I've just never gotten around to watching anything. I don't know why. :) Spangle call Lilli line is super awesome. :) I usually listen to vocal-less music as well, but there is plenty of great music on the other side of the spectrum as well. Their self-titled debut is probably still their best. Here's the best song ever: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QLvkHoWUAZE They've gone through a few stylistic changes through the years, they started out as a post-rock band, changed to an indie-rock band for a few years, and ended up as a mixture between the two. Their whole discography is pretty great though. :) Anyway, hope you like them. :)

Hey, thanks for the friend request! :) I am a big fan of your charts as well. :) Yeah, if it wasn't completely obvious, I love Japanese composers. :) I tend to listen to more of the experimental-electronic side of Japan (ambient & IDM, mostly). I don't play many video games, but I do spend a lot of time watching anime. Most anime soundtracks are pretty boring as you probably know but every once in a while one comes along that knocks my socks off. I really love the soundtracks for Makoto Shinkai's movies (5 Centimeters per Second and The Garden of Words by Kashiwa Daisuke are awesome) and anything composed by Youko. That being said, I do need to watch more anime. Yes, I'm an anime fan and I've never seen anything by Ghibli. I'm terrible :)

I didn't like his style indeed... But the day I listened to Guiding Star, my perception of music collapsed... and has been rebuilt by Shiina!! And yes, the day I saw The Wind Rises, I fell in love with the OST. I already have it. ;-) Journey and Naoko's theme are two wonderful themes and there's plenty of versions!! I particularly like Wind of Italia, Yearning (poor Naoko... RIP) and Crossing Paths.

Pleased to meet you yoo! I am obsessed by Shinna's music indeed. Even more when I take note that he isn't releasing ALL the tracks he compose! Makes me wander through the ISOs of Tales of Legendia and GOD EATER to find those missing tracks! x) At the moment I'm in my "Shiina period". Sometimes it changes to Yoko Shimomura, Joe Hisaishi or, above all else, Falcom jdk. There was a time when I didn't like Shiina's music, actuelly. I was fond of Sakuraba back then. Haha! VGM composers can be proud of themselves! :')

Not only did I just pass you up in scrobble count, but during the process I also hit the 50K mark first when you were like two songs away? Ultimate shame.

Ah yes, the vocals on that track are stunning. As for my release of the year I usually refrain from picking favourites but since you live VGM, I would suggest the soundtrack to Risk of Rain, and the game as well if you're into that kinda thing. What's your AoTY/any recs for me?

Yeah, Nobuo is amazing, his battle/boss themes are especially proggy. This one is totally ELP/Tarkus inspired.

The main guy released a 2011 album as Electric Asturias, who are great too (the normal "Asturias" band sounds a bit dated for me). Acoustic Asturias is still the best though, they're like Moon Safari in that I can't find anyone quite like them... And the Kirby composers are great, catchy themes that they reuse in cool ways, crazy and complex harmonies and modulations, they're proggy as hell, lol

Sobre mim

Hi there, I'm a guy from Sydney Australia whose favourite leisurely thing in life is music. I'm a proud lover of VGM, though apart from that I dig IDM, Avant-Garde, Classical and World inspired music (and music any 'normal' person would classify as 'insane').

If you wanna send me a shout or shoot me a message please don't hesitate to do so! Friendships brought about by music can be the greatest of friendships.
