Ripoff of the week: Lou Reed vs. Lou Reed

Nov 12 2009, 2h05

The Velvet Underground - Sunday Morning (from The Velvet Underground & Nico, 1967)

Lou Reed - Hangin' 'Round (from Transformer, 1972)

I think Lou repeats himself a bit here. The chorus of "Sunday Morning":
"Watch out, the world's behind you
There's always someone around you"

The chorus of "Hangin' 'Round":
"You keep hangin' round me
and I'm not so glad you found me"

Aside from the textual similarities, the second line is sung to nearly the same melody.
