Not unlike the way we feel about politicians, you either love or hate Kid Rock. That's because he's controversial and we know exactly where he stands (and today he stood in front of 50,000 people at the Stagecoach country festival). If you don't relate to his song "Lowlife," don't even bother trying to connect with to him at all. The song sums up Kid Rock's pride in being a bad ass redneck, and while left field comments like "I make black music for the white man," make you scratch your head–you realize he at least speaks the truth. His motivation to urbanize country music (if that's possible) is not unlike early hip-hop acts like Beastie Boys and Run-D.M.C. who urbanized rock and jazz. He's just found a different way to fight for our rights to party.
Meanwhile, while the kids were at Kid Rock, Kenny Chesney, and Lady Antebellum over on the Mane Stage–the old timers got there chance to reminisce in the shade of the tented stages. The legandary Peter Rowan Bluegrass Band played an outstanding hour plus set, while the classic country-rock favorite, Poco, gave its fans a rare treat. The reunion engagement featured the full lineup of Richie Furay, Jim Messina, Rusty Young, Paul Cotton, Jack Sundrud and George Lawrence. Timeless hits like "Crazy Love" and "Heart of the Night" held up live amazingly, and their die hard fans would agree (the characters in the front row have obviously been following the band since the '70s). The band claimed they turned down the offer to play the main stage and didn't want the big video screens. And it's true: their music alone is all the entertainment you need.
