  • Insomnia + nothing better to do = 50 questions about my top 50 artists

    Jul 8 2010, 7h03

    1. How did you get into 31? (2Pac)
My peers liked him and quoted him all the time. When he died, videos and his songs played all the time and he was CUTE (hey, I was a shallow kid)! I still go through random 2Pac phases.

    2. What's your favourite lyric by 41? (Muse)
I don't really pay attention to lyrics. I only like about 7 Muse songs and it's mostly due to the lovely instrument playing (drums! guitars!) and awesome melodies... So it's funny they're in my top 50 artists. I guess it was because I listened to most of their songs (that had been available in 2007-2008 and there were a lot) hoping they were all super awesome, but Black Holes and Revelations was really their best album to date. With all that said Knights of Cydonia has the best lyrics ever: DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME OR TIME WILL WASTE YOU!

    3. How many times have you seen 9 live? (Yeah Yeah Yeahs)

    7. Is there a song by 4 that makes you sad? (The Beatles)

    8. What is your least favourite song by 15? (Does It Offend You, Yeah)
    Let's Make Out, I guess.

There are too many to name one. But Warrior's Dance is the one that's most scrobbled.

    21. Do you have any good memories involving 45? (Marilyn Manson)
Watching him perform at those MTV Video Music Awards was fun! Like when showed up on the red carpet with Rose McGowan and her whole ass was exposed! Or even when he performed in that weird S&M leather thing and his ass was exposed, people's reactions were the best!!!

    22. What is your favourite song by 16? (T.I.)
Big Shit Poppin' (Do It). It's not the most respected T.I. song there is. But I don't care. I am addicted to the music. The beat, the piano, the guitar!!! I am WEAK when it comes to guitar and hot beats. No other T.I. song has this effect on me, though I have several other favorites.

  • Wow

I just freaked out thinking I deleted my Franz Ferdinand songs from my iTunes library. I saw I only had one song and I was like "OMG how did this happen? Did I really delete Trailer Trash & Dramamine & Float On?" Then I searched those titles and realized I confused Franz Ferdinand with Modest Mouse! Again.

  • Backstreet's Back Again Again Again Again Again Again Part 1

    Out 8 2009, 2h26

I don't ever deny the fact that I'm a Backstreet Boys fan. Sometimes I claim them when people try to ask me what's my favorite band. Ahaha I'll KTBSBPA forever! But as a true fan I will not hide the fact that they ruined my life with their last album Unbreakable. Compared to the first four albums Backstreet Boys, Millennium, Black & Blue, and Never Gone, Unbreakable got barely any plays. Even if I don't listen to the first three albums for a very long time, later I can still sing all the words perfectly as they are committed to memory from the hundreds of times I played each and every song. Can't say the same for Never Gone, which was weak. But at least half of the album (and a lot of the bonus tracks) got more plays than Unbreakable, their worst, most disappointing album. Only four songs got regular plays and I can't even name the rest of the songs. This obviously looks like a pattern of me having grown out of the BSB but no. Why?

First of all, that album could've and should've been a good album:
It was the first album to be recorded after Kevin left the group. I'll never forget when they were promoting the album they were saying things like "You won't notice the difference" or "We still sound exactly the same." I was like whoa, wait a minute! For someone who's supposedly like a brother, they could've at least tried to make something different out of respect for him. But even more than that, this was their chance to start fresh, change up their sound and their image instead of trying to prove that they didn't need Kevin. Maybe they were bitter or something. But obviously that was a bad move and they suck for agreeing to it. They could have done something similar to Depeche Mode, but still very BSB vocal wise. Why not? Instead, they seriously released a very similar album to Never Gone besides one track, "Everything But Mine" which was very electronic and could actually fit into their new album This Is Us. I didn't really like Never Gone because they were too young to be making that Adult contemporary shit. Or maybe I was too young at 19 to enjoy it much. But I accept it that album as their adult, grown up album. I feel that Unbreakable should never have been made. Or they could have at least come out with This Is Us last year and included songs from Unbreakable. It's funny because for the new album they decided to switch up the sound which I'll get into in part two. I don't get why they didn't do it with Unbreakable. Can you tell I hate Unbreakable besides the four songs that I don't hate, none of which include the first (and only?) single "Inconsolable". That song was so bad. Of course I've gone into a bit of a rant. But yeah that's part one. Part two coming soon.
  • MJ Forever

    Jun 29 2009, 16h59

It's really hard to choose a favorite MJ album. They're all so incredibly special and unique in their own ways and I'm attached to pretty much all of them. He's seriously one of my favorite artists ever. He was so incredibly special. I first saw Michael Jackson in Moonwalker and I was mesmerized and creeped out by it. Then I never saw him again until I discovered the Box when I was like 8 or 9. It was TV channel that played music videos. So at that time, 1996, he'd come out with the You Are Not Alone video and my aunt told me not to watch it he's crazy. And of course he was super pale and white and naked with Lisa Marie so it was just weird to like him. Fine.

Then we got cable. This was when VH1 still played videos, Behind the Music, classic videos, and Thriller came on whenever Halloween returned. Trust me I was in love. Especially with Thriller. But it was considered weird to like him, and I cared so much what my peers would think so I made the loudest noise about hating him yet I could not help but watch his videos whenever I was alone. I called him "It" for 3 years until I stopped caring sometime when I was 12 or 13. I actively made an effort to learn his dance moves. Then my love for him grew when I got my hands on all his albums.

No one else comes close. He was so creative and unique and a bit weird but wow. There's really no way to compare anyone to him. He's definitely often imitated never duplicated. It's sad what happened to him in recent years, with his private life and the little things he did to try to reinvent himself. I have not listened to the 25th anniversary version of Thriller. There was no need for that album. But nevertheless MJ you own my soul and are not gone no matter what they say.
  • Michael Jackson

    Jun 27 2009, 1h27

I can't bring myself to talk about it yet. It's still not real.

    Michael Jackson
  • Notes on Radiohead

    Jun 16 2009, 7h26

They're so weird and when I listen to them I get all weird. The way I think and express myself becomes uber weird slash awkward. Definitely non-sensical.

But I do sense. I feel.

When I listen to them I feel stupid. Because I don't understand.

But smarter. Because I do understand. They challenge me to understand. And then I understand.

I see myself. I see others. What I'm seeing becomes clear.

What I'm feeling becomes numb. What I'm feeling hurts more than before.

I'm Thom Yorke who refuses to be Thom Yorke in Street Spirit. I'll listen to it. I'll cry.

    I learn Math. 2+2=5 yeah? 15 Steps.
  • You Don't Have A Clue - Röyksopp

    Jun 8 2009, 12h52

This is one of the rare songs that I can't only hear one time. I have to replay it at the risk of tiring of it. So far each time I play it it's better than the last time, or it's as if I'm hearing it for the first time. There are only a handful of songs that I can say this about.

What's amazing about this song is the beautiful story it tells through the lyrics and vocals and music, and how beautifully it conveys the emotions this person is feeling. The vocals especially show emotion without having to scream out though she kind of does toward the end. It's so perfect how she contains herself until the end of the song..

I feel like writing about this song is pointless. This is probably the first song in months that has 2 verses a chorus and a bridge that I learned all the lyrics to. I just love everything about this song.
  • Amazing!

    Mar 28 2009, 15h49

Thu 26 Mar – The Prodigy

The Prodigy played everything I wanted to hear and then some. The crowd was manic as I expected. I had an amazing spot. I touched Maxim. I couldn't stop moving even if I wanted to. Smack My Bitch Up, Maxim yelled "I don't want to see any smacking going on". There was no smacikng just euphoric bouncing. I think everyone felt like they were tripping with the heat and the lights and the pushing and bouncing. It was amazing and I had a great time. It's an experience no one should miss out on.
