• My Weekly Top Three Tracks

    Jul 26 2011, 21h03

    Week ending: 19/06/11

Dry the River - Bible Belt
a really powerful song that I've had on loop
here is an acoustic version of it:

    Battles - Ice Cream
a really fun and catchy little song
    the official video for it:

Laura Marling - Goodbye England (Covered in Snow)
I really like the album but this week I found a new love for this particular track!
    here she is on Jools:

    Week ending: 26/06/2011

The Decemberists - Rox In The Box
I love the fun and unashameably folkish feel to this song, it is instantly catchy and just enjoyable to listen to
    the album version:

    Bombay Bicycle Club - Shuffle
again I love the summer fun of this song, I also love the bit in the middle when the song quiets then builds right back up again. Love the transformation that the band have undertaken from indie rock to folk and now to a indietronica-esque album!
I love that constant piano throughout!:

    Fleet Foxes - Mykonos
Recently aquired the Sun Giant EP and fell back in love with the singalong howling! Again a very summery and direct song!
    the official video:

    Week ending: 03/07/2011

Frankie and the Heartstrings - Hunger
I really like the energy of this song and can't wait to see them in August
    official (and annoying) video:

    Katy Perry - Peacock
Heard this at a show and sort of like it. Sorry.
comes complete with quite a gay video:

Walk the Moon - Anna Sun
Like an American Two Door Cinema Club; very fun and summery
    official video:

    Week ending: 10/07/2011

    Creep - Days
I like how this track brings witch house to a new slightly more indie pop level making it much more accessible.
I love the video so much!:

Black Rebel Motorcycle Club - Ain't No Easy Way
I love the the simple and old fashioned feel to this song! And it's nice and catchy and the southern bluesy licks make it fun and likeable
    Official video:

Ou Est Le Swimming Pool - Dance The Way I Feel
Introduced this song to a friend this week and in the process I ended up listening to it a lot this week! The song is danceable and light
    Official video:

    Week ending: 17/07/2011

Joy Division - She's Lost Control
I bought the album this week and started listening to it again I just love the simplicity and the bass in the song. And that riff!
    The song live in 1979:

    The Horrors - Still Life
A really strong album from the group and this is the lead track and the guitar and synth in the song loop so enticingly and I just love it!
Psychedelic video reminds me of Cat's Eyes a bit:

Dry the River - No Rest
Their new single shows the band's ability to make an emotional and strong song. The song is a really fresh twist on indie folk which has got a little tired recently.
    Interesting official video:
