Being new here…& learning to fly around last.fm I saw a journal suggestion: Why not write about the concerts you’ve attended so here’s the hardest part. Now… I sit here pickin’ through the cobwebs of my head. So here, it goes…

We heard about the concert via the radio. A group of us kids went to the State Theater in Hartford, Connecticut via bus. Alan Freed (Mr.Rock & Roll) was bringing us a touring concert, wow, straight from N.Y.C. I was young & I remember looking around & joking with my friends that we were by far the youngest in the audience. But we didn’t mind..lol..We were jus groovin’ on the music... I was hooked on live concerts. I mean …I had the honor to see Elvis in his first TV appearance on Ed Sullivan. I was alive for the birth of Rock & Roll, which in itself is a great honor. We would get home from school just in time to tune in Dick Clarks American Bandstand.  We all had transistor radios & tuned into all the pop, rock, & oldies stations which came in clear from N.Y.C.  the airwaves were so clear & clean! But this was ahh the best. To be part of musical crowd up close & personal! To feel the energy! WOW ! Why, we were bee boppin’ in our seats. There were black & white folks dancing down by the stage. I was most fortunate to have been taught by some very wise elderly folks. They taught me to look at a person’s heart & soul. They told me the color of a person’s skin & exterior looks were just a costume. So I was just so was thrilled to see black & white folks dancing in rhythm & unity.  in the same air space ! There were security guards & I thought at any moment they were gonna stop the dancing! The rest of the concert is a bit fuzzy  & feels like a dream bout now.
