My complete discographies

What with this being my 100th post (and me being quite bored at the moment) I though I'd do something constructive. Having completed a couple more after a trip to my local library this afternoon, I decided to make a list of all the bands for whom I have the full back catalogues. I'd be interested to see for myself; and maybe someone else will be to.

So, pretty much in the order that I think of them:

1. ryan adams - 'Demolition' was one of the albums I got today. It's only quite recently that I have really gotten into him. But every time I sit through one of his records I find I like this stuff even more. Favourite album: gold.

2. eels - The other album I got was 'Shootenanny!' so they're also pretty fresh in my memory. I saw these guys on Jools Holland when I was 14 and at the time they were the weirdest new band I'd ever seen; but then at 14 I couldn't exactly claim to have an 'eclectic' music collection. Favourite album: souljacker.

3. r.e.m. - My eldest brother (15 years older than me) was a great influence on my early musical tastes; and the fact that he has a couple thousand CDs lying around his house made for arduous but rewarding hours in front of the CD-writer. They're a bit 'mainstream' for a lot of people, but I'll always love R.E.M. Favourite album: new adventures in hi-fi.

4. u2 - Ireland's greatest export; and as an Irish person you either love them or hate them for it. I definitely come under the former category. Favourite album: the unforgettable fire.

5. chris rea - This guy is my top artist which, initially, was because he released a new album with 130-odd tracks on it. But, now I just love the man. I think he has 22 albums; not all of them are good, in fact some are downright cringe-worthy, but he has some real gems. Favourite album: Chris Rea - Hofner Blue Notes.

6. death cab for cutie - Described by many on here as a 'guilty pleasure'; so they played on the OC and signed to Atlantic, you can't condemn a band for wanting to sell more records. I'm looking foward to seeing them play The Astoria in March. Favourite album: the photo album.

7. modest mouse - Another of the OC alumni, and writers of one of most unlikely summer anthems to come out in a while. Just an excellent band. I can't listen to just one of their songs without wanting to put on the album. Favourite album: This Is a Long Drive for Someone With Nothing to Think About.

8. peter mulvey - Another one my brother got me into; in fact I think he (Mulvey) is a friend of some friends of ours (tenuous link I know). Fantastic songwriter and the type of musician who makes anyone who's ever picked up a guitar feel horribly depressed. I'm seeing him supporting Chris Difford on Tuesday (24th Jan.) in London. Can't wait. Favourite album: the trouble with poets.

9. pink floyd - If you ask me who my favourite band is, this'll be my answer. The first album I ever loved as a kid (for some reason) was 'The Wall Live' and every subsequent record was even more of an eye-opener. Favourite album: animals.

10. the doors - I've always had a penchant for blues-based rock 'n' roll and these guys were the best (non-English) producers of it. Favourite album: morrison hotel.

11. led zeppelin - Another of the rock dinosaurs I'm happy to admit loving. Check out Robert Plant's latest LP too. Favourite album: led zeppelin.

12. elliott smith - I don't really need to say anything about this guy. Damn shame. Favourite album: either/or.

13. cursive - I just seem to love everything Saddle Creek produce. Favourite album: the ugly organ.

14. the faint - Umm, yeah. Like I said. Favourite album: danse macabre.

15. the decemberists - As a complete, I think the term is 'grammar nazi', this band are the perfect antidote to a world full of txt language. Favourite album: her majesty the decemberists.

16. peter green splinter group - Fleetwood Mac were once the definitive blues-rock band in the world. Then Peter Green 'left' and Stevie Nicks came along *sigh*. Anyway, the moral of the story is Green is still going strong and Fleetwood and co. are long gone - though admittedly with a bigger nest egg. Favourite album: reaching the cold 100.

17. radiohead - This is probably why you're here. Sorry. But a great band none-the-less. Favourite album: ok computer.

18. Oh, actually that seems to be it. Well, I hope we all learnt something.
