yeah, it must be tough to move right across the globe. i moved to uni and i still go back quite often, you obviously won't have that chance. i think the excitement should override the anxiety, though, good luck!

Hey I couldn't help but notice the last album you listened to is particularly amazing.

Adam, the guy who runs the site, would be overjoyed to see such positive feedback about the site. It's his little pet project, he's very protective of it, and he puts so much time into it. I just chip in with my animation column and then very occasionally something like the Scott Pilgrim piece. Glad you agree with me on the Scott Pilgrim thing. Adam's argument was that I'm younger than the target audience of Scott Pilgrim, which I find bizarre. I really relate to it. Anyway, I'm currently doing an all nighter packing up my flat ready to move. 2 things have occurred to me: Arcade Fire might just be the best band ever and you need to check out a band called Radical Face. The album Ghost is superb.

I wouldn't say animation is my thing, as I don't know enough about it, I just really like it. I'm learning more and more, so it could well become my thing. Maybe I'll start writing books on it when I'm old and wise. Double Bass is great because if I want to play something like swing jazz, I can, but it can also be used for classical. You just don't get that with a cello or violin.

I'm not professional at all, I just know the guy who runs the site I write for, and so I do a weekly column on animation. If you can at all be arsed, it's http://hopelies.com And I've always thought I'd like to learn strings of some kind. Maybe the double bass.

Yeah, it did look, er, 'fancy schmancy' but it also made me want to learn an instrument. I saw it as part of Edinburgh Film Festival, I'm writing for a website for it.

I actually saw an amazing Australian film today called Mrs Carey's Concert, about a school that every two years has a concert in the Sydney Opera house. The teachers were quite psychotic but it was a good film.

Er, I would attempt to wow you with my film taste, but trying to convince a Luhrmann fan of good taste is somewhat akin to trying to convince an ADD riddled five year old that it's worth reading romantic poetry.

Kent is nice. Oh, no, I won't claim I won't have any mancrushes, I'm just saying that our tastes in male appearances are likely to have nothing in common whatsoever :P

Ah, cool, where in England? I don't really get "Patz"'s attractiveness, either, but then I'm reasonably straight, so that's why, maybe.

It's not so much a rivalry between Pav and I because I've already won. Everyone knows Pav is always wrong. Always. Just because he likes Moulin Rouge does not mean he has good film taste. And vice versa with me. I'm tasteful. That said, I've only listened to Fever to Tell (?) and wasn't a huge fan. That said, I love the soundtrack to Where the Wild Things Are.

"It depends" would be the obvious and boring answer. Sometimes an intense short trip is more effective than a long one. I think 2-3 days is a good length, though of course not if you're travelling for several months, you'd just get tired of travelling all the time. BTW, "Pattinson was fantastic, as expected", hahahahaha.

Musée d'Orsay > Louvre, but I'm biased because I much prefer impressionists to anything that came before... I like what you said about letting the city impose itself on you, very true.

The Big Mac Index is a useful shortcut. I mean, if you live in the cheapest available youth hostel, eat in local pubs, etc., you won't end up spending much money anywhere. It's all a question of balancing cash and comfort. Also a question of what you want to do in those cities - visit museums? experience night life? So many options...
