By the way, East-West is mostly a typical (albeit high quality) electric blues album until the 13-minute title track at the end, which incorporates both Ravi Shankar-like Ragas and blues based improvisation. This being early 1966, they were essentially the first psychedelic blues-rock band, predating Cream and all of the San Francisco bands.

ya I agree. I had a hard time getting into it, I really disliked NARROW STAIRS for the first 3 or 4 times played it (but it was the same with PLANS). standout tracks for me: grapevine fires, no sunlight & cath. talking bird also is beautiful, but the "raw" ukulele version on the OPEN DOORS EP is even better. :]
