Do you mean Nine the musical? or 9 the animated film? I was not thinking of buying the score to the musical film, but who does it anyway? Is it really that bad? lol. Anyway, did you ever manage to watch the end of District 9 or listen to Clinton Shorter's score?

Sobre mim

"...and even though the world goes on for eons and eons,
you are only here for a fraction of a fraction of a second.
Most of your time is spent being dead or not yet born.
(...) you spend your time in vague regret or vaguer hope
that something good will come along.
Something to make you feel connected,
something to make you feel whole,
something to make you feel loved..."

An Education, 7,5/10 (The movie started off great, but the last 30 minutes were very disappointing. The movie is basically carried by wonderful performances, from this year's sensation Carey Malligan, who gained a lot of Oscat talk and has been called 'new Audrey Hepburn'. I think it's all exaggerated, however this is a very good performance - natural, classy, balanced, heartwarming. We also have Pete Sarsgaard here - truly I have not seen him in a bad movie, and he is quite great here - his english accent was perfect, Alfred Molina who was fantastic, Emma Thompson, Sally Hawkings, Rosamund Pike and Cara Seymour - she was Christie, the prostitute killed by Christian Bale with a chainsaw in American Psycho, the scene that has inspired me greatly :) The movie is a story of a girl, smart, bright girl, on her way to Oxford university - she's studying hard and she's hoping to get there. But one day she meets older man - charming, protective, decent. She has to chose between fun that is basically handed to her or education. The conflict is well presented, the contrast is brilliant, but the movie's climax went on too fast and was disappointing. It is good movie, lovely shot with adorable music and great performances. But no means it is oscar movie)
Intolerable Cruelty, 8+/10 (Ah, George. I could probably end this review here. But I'm not gonna. This movie didn't recieve critical acclaim, it didn't not recieve many favorable opinions from public. but I love it. I think it's smart, witty and hilarious. George Clooney plays divorce attorney, may I add, my personal role model. Catherine Zeta Jones plays femme fatale who marries silly men for their money. The chemistry between both of them is fantastic, but still, just take a look at them - anyone would have chemistry there. The story is fantastic, filled with colorful supporting characters played by Richard Jenkins, Geoffrey Rush, Billy Bob Thorton. This is, after 'Burn After Reading' and 'The Big Lebowski' my favorite Coen brothers's movie. Clooney is hilarious here, I was in tears during each deposition/courtroom scene. If you haven't seen the film yet, run, run and do so!)

Precious, 7/10 (During oscar season I spent huge amount of time on imdb.com forum called oscar buzz. I read the opinion of one of the posters about Precious, saying that whearas Hostel is torture porn this is misery porn. It is hard to disagree. I don't remember the last time I saw a movie with scenes that sickening. What's worse is that this stuff actually happens in real life. I was astonished how disturbing some of the things shown in a movie were. In fact watching this movie was an expierience so unpleasant I had to watch Michael Clayton right after that, just to look at elegant, rich, healthy people and gorgeous George Clooney for 120 minutes. Because Precious is just about as dark as a story of poor girl can be. She is abused by her mother and her boyfriend, she is barely 16teen and pregnant with her 2nd child - the result of rape, she is obese, she cannot read and she is poor. But somehow she keeps on going and finds her way towards better future. Now the editing and director's choices are terrible here, however maybe because it was so poorly shot I had a feeling of watching a documentary which made it even powerful movie. Precious is played by Gabby Sidibe and it is her first performance ever. She was good, but after reading a lot of reviews where she was highly praised I expected more. Mo'nique however, who plays Precious' horrible mother was fantastic, she should win academy award for this and many signs points to that she will in fact. The final scene with her is powerful. I cried just because the story was so awful and the scene so well-played. There is also Mariah Carrey and Lenny Kravitz in the cast, which was suprising. I recommend the movie, but only to people with strong nerves, it is really disturbing)
Funny People, 6/10 (Way too long and not half as funny as 'Knocked up' or 'Superbad'. But there is a reason to see this movie - Eric Bana. I was shocked he was in a comedy and my god! he has a talent! He was hilarious, however he enters in 90th minute of the movie, but believe me it is worth to wait just to see him acting like a complete moron and delivering lines like 'I was shitting myself and I had a boner at the same time!' - I couldn't believe my own ears. The rest of the cast features half of Judd Appatow's family, incredibly annoying Adam Sandler and always funny Seth Rogen and Jonah Hill. nice comedy, but there are many better that came out this year)
