I got back from Great Britain on Monday so that's why there's no tracks played for a good chunk of time. My Scottish mix got played out very fast (as I expected) due to it being 1/4 the length of my English mix while I stayed there for twice as long. Oh well.

Triple Negative broke up after dissatisfaction with Alex's drumming, apparently. Their last show was while I was on vacation so I never got to see them play. ARRGH! New band is called 8 Bit Glory. Probably won't be listening to them but we'll see.

I wish Entourage listed their songs in each episode somewhere convenient. I love the music on that show.

Has anybody seen the iTunes "Student Sampler" or whatever, on Facebook? I joined it while I was in Aberdeen because they had alternative bands that week. This week it's ELECTRONIC, which isn't bad in itself but some of the songs are over 7 minutes long. Next week though it's rock so I'm excited.

And speaking of iTunes, I am a tad ticked with them for making me ignore a splendid song for so long. The song I am referring to is TocarRun. The sample of they give of it (because I always try before I steal) is from the beginning, which does not adequately represent the song in my opinion. It was only when my friend told me that the chorus of that song, which is used oh-so-many times in promos, was by Snow Patrol, that I realized I had been led astray.

So I finally uploaded the two CDs, Hot Fuss and Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not. I also finally got some neighbors!!! But now that I've got them, I don't care as much anymore. I meant to post all this on Wednesday. And fittingly, I joined this group.

Turns out Triple Negative did post the time their show was happening. It was at 4. I realized this at 4:57. Oh well. They have a few more shows this summer. And if you guys could possibly vote "Yes" for my image of them, I'd be very grateful.

I'm also a subscriber as of today (well now it's yesterday) and will be for a whole month. Too bad I won't have much time to enjoy it...

Yes, on Sunday, I'm leaving for my trip to the UK. Several days in London and the rest of the month in Scotland. So I'm making a couple playlists for my stay there: One made up of English music, and a second with songs from Scottish artists. I figure I should make up some totally different playlists since I know I'll quickly wear out my regular playlist if I'm listening to it constantly while I'm over there. My English playlist is decent but my Scottish playlist is woefully meager. I've tried Wikipedia's groupings and the tags here on last.fm, but I don't know where to start! I need some suggestions. But keep in mind these three things:
    1. This isn't meant to represent the music and culture of England/Scotland as a whole, I just want songs bands from England and Scotland for my trip.
    2. I would prefer something upbeat.
    3. No Beatles or Belle and Sebastian, please.

Here are my playlists so far (I've just listed the artist if I have more than one track by them):
    English Mix-
    Queen
    Bloc Party
    The Kinks
    In The Air Tonight
    Who Are You
    TocarFade To Grey
    TocarYellow
    How We Do This
    TocarUnsatisfied
    TocarSuzie
    Rear Moth
    The Libertines
    Arctic Monkeys
    Hard-Fi
    This Charming Man
    TocarTeardrop

    Scottish Mix-
    Snow Patrol
    Franz Ferdinand
TocarBlack Horse And The Cherry Tree
    A Girl Like You
    TocarEverybody Come Down
    TocarEl Capitan

I've updated my About Me section and replaced my second paragraph with a Top 5 list. And it should be noted that #5 is not meant to be taken seriously.

I was in the forums (I forget what I came for originally) and I came across a thread called Bands that everyone likes--except you (http://www.last.fm/forum/5/_/92119/1) and thought I'd make a post. Now if you click the link I gave you, you'll notice that there are 57 pages in that thread. I skimmed all of them (I was looking for someone that also hated Dashboard Confessional but I didn't find one until page 55) and it only took me about an hour since quite a lot of it was people quoting what others had said and coming up with the most hateful reasons to disagree! It would've been OK if people (which some did) just said they disagreed and provided a few songs or albums as counterexamples. But there were some users that just got really personal and attacked the "credibility" of the person that dissed their favorite band by basically saying that based on THEIR playlist THEY wouldn't know good music if it licked and bit their earlobes off.

A prime example is how one person posted "Beatles. Their music sucks." and somebody replied with "Well, you know best!"

Wow. But if that wasn't wretched enough, this thread was over 6 months old so there were a handful of users that have been the bullies of the playground for months.

I mean, practically every other entry bashed the Arctic Monkeys but I didn't diss anybody's mother or music taste for that. Nor did I bash anyone that criticized Snow Patrolor Queen because I knew people were bound to bash some of my favorite bands since that was what the thread was about!!! Now I realize that not all people on here that frequent the forums are jerks and I happened to pick a thread that was inherently volatile but it just gets me really upset. This is exactly why I usually avoid forums of all kinds.

Well, rant's done now. Triple Negative is having a free concert tomorrow (er...today) which I have been looking forward to for awhile. However, now that the date has come, I'm thinking of not going. First of all, it's at someone's (who I don't know) birthday party. Second of all, I don't know anybody (and those who I do know, I don't like) that's going. And lastly, and I think this is the most important, I don't know when to show up! Ugh. I should go to bed but I'm still not tired.

I finally bought the Arctic Monkeys CD I wanted, Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not, yesterday. They're my new favorite band, dethroning Evanescence, who reigned as my favorite for 3 years. If I end up liking 5 or more songs on an album, I usually buy the album. I think this is the first CD I've bought since Hot Fuss, which I still haven't put in my computer. I'm such a procrastinator. Maybe this summer this will change...

    Probably not.

So I've listened to over 6 times the required amount of tracks necessary to calculate "neighbours" but I still don't have any. I saw this one person that only had about six or seven hundred tracks played and he had lots of neighbors. This shouldn't bother me but it does. After all, I spend the majority of my time online on this site so the least "they" could do would be to find some people who like the same things as me. I guess I'll have to settle for "recommendations" for now.

My mother is worried about the second paragraph of my About Me section since she's afraid that the RIAA will just happen to come across my profile (out of the 16,000 on this site) and arrest me for copyright infringement and she'll have to pay for the damages. Of course this is my favorite paragraph and because it really does describe who I am as music lover. So I have to figure out a way to reword it so it says what I do without saying it or else she'll just delete my site while I'm sleeping. Hmm...
