I pick my music song by song, not by artist. As a result, my collection contains many artists of different genres, but generally only a couple songs for each artist. So my top artists section is really who sings the songs that I've played 100+ times. I also usually find awesome and original melodies of more importance than clever lyrics. Unless the lyrics tell a story.

I'm also a passive listener. As you might be able to tell from how my tracks are Scrobbled, I almost exclusively listen to music on my iPod. Mostly I just want to block out the world during my commute. I don't go to concerts and I usually listen to white noise when studying, if anything.
