yeah i'm really excited! i was pretty disappointed at first because the initial black cat and 930 shows both sold out in about 20 seconds, but luckily they announced more nights. it should be great.

P.S. Owen does a version of AF's "Never Meant" on some split deal, which may in fact be how I discovered them in the first place. I think the progression has been Owen-->American Football-->JoA, with Cap'n Jazz (embarrassingly) positioned in the near future.

Yeah, I'm also apparently the top for PG & Covered Pages, too, so we're even. And yes, of course I knew where American Football came from! I think I listened to that stuff before I even knew who Joan of Arc were, actually. Mike/"Owen" 's work is killer. At least one of those is a highschool-ex-girlfriend song.

I understand, of course; just couldn't resist the opportunity to be an asshole! And yeah, I'm dead-set on Barn Owl et al. - forgot to switch it o'er.

It slays me. I just saw his last NYC show as Casiotone (with Lightning Bolt and Dan Deacon, it was nuts), so I had to get my fill of all those old feelings and memories.

That S&G box set you're scrobbling may well have been my first ever "favorite record". Even though it's a compilation. I was in elementary school and didn't know the difference.

Prom the PV mailing list: "Plus Tim has been working on a little something special in between Cap'n Jazz shows -- a collaboration with Need New Body, 90 Day Men, Live in Chicago 1999-era members, and Friend/Enemy....more on that soon." 1999 is one of the few albums I crammed onto my mom's MP3 player for this trip and I got to know it a lot better, by the way.

Aw, brutal! I heard about that - but really, for a one-off for now reunion tour like this, I really doubt they'd leave Brooklyn behind, of all places. Seems like something that will be rectified. Fingers crossed! I was going through shows on here and got really excited when the name came up, but alas, my location was still set to San Francisco from some pre-vacation research the day before. Doesn't look like Seattle is getting any love this time around. If you still need a little pick-me-up, you should take a look at the Brassland reissues of the first two National records that are in the works, if you haven't already. I still haven't worked my way back there, but they look great and I know how much you enjoy that period.
