Twangnation has a good rundown on the awards show, additional winners, and a link to the webcast on NPR that I listened to after the fact. They did nice tributes to Hank Williams (yeah Holly Williams) and Old Crow Medicine Show. Best 2-1/2 hours on the internet this year.

Myself, well, I guess I am officially old. There's plenty of good new music out there this year, but not so much good enough to part with many of my hard earned pennies. I like the tried and true. As Emmylou & Rodney said, we were Americana before there was such a thing. I'm not so keen on the newbies, the hipsters with cute little names (tho I do like me a good fedora). I just prefer plain unvarnished, from-the-soul roots music.

Then again, Americana is a big tent with lots of room. As Twangnation quoted MC Jim Lauderdale's introduction: “The past matters, traditions matter, even when we explore ways to have those traditions extended and expanded.” Welcome to the party, folks. Its just getting good.
