It was raining on and off all day, although as soon as I entered the LCCC it was nothing but sunshine. The doors opened at 4pm, and it was just before 4pm when I arrived for one of Manchesters most eagerly awaited concerts. The first support act, Brookyln-based indie/electronica band, MGMT put on a good performance to start off what would be a fantastic night. During their 30 minute performance, they played hits such as 'Time to Pretend', 'Electric Feel' and my personal favourite song, 'Kids'.

Bat For Lashes was on the stage next, and the crowd was filling up….I couldn't even see where the crowd of people stopped. I was located about 30 rows from the front of the stage. Bat For Lashes really surprised be during her 45 minute set, Natasha Khan and her backing band were really entertaining with the different type of instruments performed on stage. Bat For Lashes vocals were spot on, the entire set was entertaining from start to finish, although my highlight was the performance of her first single 'Prescilla' from her second album.

It was finally 8:15pm the Roadies had put the final touches to the light show that Radiohead were about to captivate the crowd with. Thom Yorke and his band begun their performance with the opening track to 'In Rainbows', '15 Step'. Eventually throughout the night they would play every track from In Rainbows (except for House of Cards). Unlike at Hurricane Festival, Radiohead chose to play many of their cult-hits including 'No Surprises', 'Just', and 'Fake Plastic Trees'.

One of the many highlights of the night was when Thom Yorke was singing 'Faust Arp' and the crowd were being a little pushy and aggressive, "I love you but enough is enough, enough", adding another lyric to the song; "ENOUGH! Who do we look like, the Arctic Monkeys?". Funny stuff!

The heart-felt 'All I Need' was so beautiful to hear, as well as the tune from Radiohead's first encore of the night 'Videotape' which echoed across the packed out Lancashire County Cricket Club. Along in the first encore were old favourites 'Paranoid Android' and 'Karma Police' which finished off the first encore…and a great way to leave the stage. During the encore break the crowd begun to repeat the chorus,
""FOR A MINUTE THERE!
I LOST MYSELF!
I LOST MYSELF!".
Which will be a moment I will never forget.

Radiohead pleasured the crowd with a SECOND encore, which featured 'Pyramid Song', '2+2=5', and the electroinic/dancy tune 'Idioteque'.

And an unexpected encore was to follow. Previously at Radiohead's UK tour they had always played 25 shows and two encores. Tonight we were in for a REAL treat. Radiohead came out for one more final song, 'Lucky'.

Overall, it was a fantastic gig to be a part of. Thom Yorke's vocals were flawless, and the light show was stunning. At one point during the performance all the lights were coloured as rainbows, which was purely amazing to see. Thom Yorke pretty much kept to himself during the concert…only saying a few lines to the crowd throughout the two hour performance. Also the actual ticket of the event even looked spectacular, very well designed and kept with the In Rainbwows theme.

The only downfall of the night was the organisation of public transport home. It took 40 minutes just to get to the tram station (which usually takes 2 minutes), and after getting on the tram we were only taken to one stop down the track as there was an derailed tram further on. So instead it was a long walk to the hostel.

A fantastic night; as usual Radiohead did not play 'Creep', and the only song that I would have liked to hear that was not on the setlist was 'Street Spirit'.

Highlight songs:
15 Step
All I Need
No Surprises
Videotape
Karma Police
Idioteque
