Hey, how are you? I'm not familiar with Soulseek -- what exactly is it?

I figured since you're into the Dukes of Stratosphear you would most likely like XTC, since it's one of their spin off records. I would certainly recommend Black Sea; however, you should get them all. As far as the paisley revival movement; I would say the Rain Parade, (they were the most authentic).. :)

I'm still blown away by people your age knowing ad appreciating artists like him. I guess, like any type of music, there comes a time when people come to appreciate the "classics". In another sense it is different because, while I now can appreciate the great swing bands, I still hardly listen to them at all.

Colin Blunstone. WOW. Both of you should be congratulated.

Was that the Odessey & Oracle 40th anniversary tour? Nice! And yes, Colin Blunstone's ethereal voice has aged very nicely. Have you heard any of his solo material? His debut album, 'One Year' is quite good.

Wow, Amanda, what a fine list of baroque pop artists you got there! I'm loving all the Michael Brown-related material. I believe he is an unsung genius of 60s pop...it still blows my mind that he was 16 when he wrote 'Walk Away Renee' and 'Pretty Ballerina'. Wonder what he's up to now? I think a Left Banke reunion is in order. =)

It is definately a broad genre, it seems to blur a bit with sunshine pop and psychedelic pop... that's why I stopped adding genres to my songs when I uploaded them, it's too tricky!

Bombard away! I am familiar with the fading yellow series indeed. When I think of baroque pop I do think of more melancholy sort of songs, but as you say you would expect something a bit more whimiscal from the title of the album! It's a hard genre to pin down really, I think the key elements are harmonies, strings and woodwinds (definately the oboe!), harpsichords and organs, and short ish songs. I would say that early honeybus was baroque pop. We should make our own compilation really.
