Not all of it is strictly swing, but they all have elements of the genre, and they're from that period.

Yay! Try some Glenn Miller, Albert Ammons, Harry 'the Hipster' Gibson, Benny Goodman, Lionel Hampton, Cab Calloway, Raymond Scott, Fats Waller, Artie Shaw, etc.

Oh wow. No, I don't live there, but i sure wish i did! love it there =] I go there quite a bit... and i'm sure i still haven't seen nearly everything there is to see. It depends what sort of stuff you're looking for i suppose... There's some good tours, by bus to see the major spots. Or the london eye is awesome to get a good view =] I'd definitely recommend going to a West End show if you like the theatre. If you like museums, the science museum is pretty good, and the imperial war museum, that's really interesting. Oh and madame tussauds wax museum is a bit of fun. You might want to go see buckingham palace too, and see the guards change, and there's a really nice park just next to that too. If you want shops, you want oxford street for all the big name brands or camden town is very cool if you like stuff that's a little more... off the wall =] and london zoo is near there too.

Try Elbow, it's a little bit more cheerful than the National is, but still melancholic and taking you slowly down into their songs..

wow, it's been forever since you posted something on my wall and i totally forgot to answer. well, we actually went to chicago, detroit, niagara falls, lancaster, washington and new york. how come you dislike these places? (okay i must admit that detroit and lancaster aren't the coolest, but we did a roadtrip and these are the stops we made) and niagara falls is annoyingly touristic BUT the falls are beautiful! and i absolutely adored chicago and NYC

... thanks again! I might do some covers and such soon too but i feel kinda guilty everytime i get at it... like i should try to focus and finish some of the original sketches i've got lying around. I did, however, do a cover of the AmAnSet's "the postman" that i uploaded on the boards a while ago. I've played with a few bands in high school but all the recordings we ever did were kinda terrible. But i'm currently trying to sequence those two songs inbetween three others and do some kind of solo EP release.
