A Walkabout Through 2008

Mar 9 2008, 18h33

These are the CD's I've purchased in 2008 (Yes, physical CD's in the 8th year of the 21st century. I must be a hayseed) 2008 is shaping up to be a bit slower of a year in regards to new music, but I'm still buying a lot compared to that average consumer. A strikethrough means it might not be hanging around for long.

with 26 albums last year. Jon Foreman's stuff has really impressed me; of course, I'm a long-time Switchfoot fan, but it's a very different sound. Children 18:3 was a pleasant surprise and my favorite debut artist for 2008 so far. Ivoryline was my favorite band that Cornerstone 2007 introduced me to, and I was glad to see them getting some buzz but just wasn't impressed enough to buy the album. The Afters new disc disappointed me, and I'm afraid I outgrew Pillar a few years ago. Secret & Whisper hasn't really grabbed me yet. Looking forward to Thrice, Showbread, Underoath, Anberlin, Norma Jean, Switchfoot, and HOPEFULLY mewithoutYou later this year.

Also bought: Relient K was mostly fun. Capital Lights was interesting for a couple weeks. Classic Crime was good but House of Heroes was incredible. couldn't really get into Anberlin. FF5 was slightly disappointing but still cool. Underoath was amazing. Ruth was nice but the songs aren't sticking to me like the debut. Norma Jean was cool but I'm just not quite into their style enough. Considered buying but didn't: Jonezetta didn't seem as exciting. Checked out Corey Crowder once and may have to come back, same with Copeland. Thought about Emery and Snow Patrol. Definitely never considered purchasing after hearing one song: Since October Even though you buy crazy amounts of albums your list is incomplete without: Becoming the Archetype, which I didn't get until the first of 2009, and Brave Saint Saturn, which I'm only just getting into and haven't gotten to the third disc yet.
