Wed 23 Sep – Meat Puppets, Dead Confederate This little band from Austin with the big sound. Throw in some Sonic Youth, punk, and energy and what you have is UME. Guitarist Lauren was a Telecaster in a Tornado for much of the set. The crowd size was lame. Many, many music fans missed a great first glimpse of UME in Seattle. (pretty sure about that). But, the small crowd moved steadily closer in and there was much head bobbing and toe tapping. The Chop Suey soundman gave them a great mix (not always true for the opener). Keep an eye on this band. Their newer EP Sunshower is more polished than their initial (excellent with out of control energy) Urgent Sea. But, pick both CDs up.
