Are you also experiencing a Yndi Halda love-in at the moment?

Monotonix were a lot of fun, though i felt pretty cheated having paid £10 to see them with a 45 minute set (all their songs, ever) with no support and no fire raising, but entertaining antics all the same. I'm still very much in love with f'rabbit, and am a bit sad i can't go see them tonight unfortunately. The hawk is howling is a real grower, and yes it needs to be listened to LOUDLY. On repeat.

omg we have the same surname. I usually only ever meet people with the Carlisle spelling. I loved now 29 as well. It had corona's rhythm of the night.

Bradford Rio ! Oh yes, the memories, the lack of bar service, the appaling toilets, the carpet that had mutated, and that strange odour of sweat-spilled beer-blood-?

Sobre mim

My love affair with music began somewhere around Now 29 and Big Hits 96, when after 3 months or so of constant rotation I realised I kept fast forwarding to the guitar songs and not really listening to much else. I bought the Great Escape and there was no turning back. The Britpop era still probably stands as one of my favourite periods of music, but since then all kinds of things have hit my radar.

Once Britpop finally croaked (I hung on till the bitter end, I really did) there was the ill advised nu metal phase, which began when I started going out in Bradford, where you go to Queen's Hall, listen to cheese and get shot, or go to Rios "The North's Premier Rock Venue." I chose the latter in all it's eyelinered and wide legged trousered glory, and for a year or so it did me proud till I met Mr Michael Oates, now of the Alterkicks, who showed me Bjork and led me back towards the stuff I love today. Living with Nonimage gained me a Death Cab Addiction, and going out with Brooner for a year or so finally made me listen to Arab Strap and start getting slightly more obscure again (though only a little). Bosan56 is busy instructing me in the ways of divine Swedish pop whilst MadameBellamy continues trying to convince me I still love Muse as much as I used to.

So now, I'm running my own club night with Nonimage and Film Star, Black Tape (moving to Henry's Cellar Bar), still struggling with my Death Cab 9 step, and tentatively getting back into gigging after an Oxford dry spot. Now if I could only get the cash to continue the CD collection expansion it'd all be good...
