Wed 23 Apr – Skid Row + Ugly Kid Joe

Maaaan this was a fucking awesome gig. Seriously. I am still amazed at how awesome it was. I still wish I could have seen Sebastian Bach in da flesh, but I'll gladly take this Johnny dude as a great hair metal singer in his own right. :) The guys can still play and kick arse and even if they were the only band I'd seen the whole night I would've been happy. Johnny took a pic of the crowd and said he'd put it on Skid Row's Facebook page - and that anyone who can see themselves in the photo should tag themselves on it. :P I haven't seen the photo go up yet!

BUT THEN … Ugly Kid Joe's set kicked off, and things just continued to kick arse and be awesome. I knew more of their songs than I did Skid Row's, and seeing Whitfield Crane up there on stage just really made me nostalgic for my younger days. They also sounded brilliant and it was really fun to hear the old faves like "Neighbor", "Cats in the Cradle" and "Everything About You" (first song of the encore). Ending the show with a rendition of "Ace of Spades" by Motörhead was just icing on the cake. They also played an AC/DC cover earlier in the night, and mentioned that they'd visited Bon Scott's grave in Freo to pay their respects.

I did see a bit of the last song by Dead City Ruins, and was sad I didn't get to see more of them - they sounded great, from what little I heard, and didn't look half bad either. ;)

All in all, a brilliant night. Index and little finger well and truly up in the air - with both hands!
