They only played "The Water Glass" and "Evil New War God" from their latest album (incidently the only good songs too) or did you mean the new ones in general? Yeah they didn't play much if anything off 'Houdini'. Couldn't quite tell.

I wish I had seen The Sword; apparently their latest album is less derivative and more interesting than their earlier stuff. High on Fire and Kylesa were definitely my favourites of the day though but I agree that HoF weren't on for nearly long enough. Kylesa's live sound gave the song they played off their last two albums a lot more bite and edge to them which I preferred. Melvins were pretty cool, surprised you didn't watch them. Iron Maiden weren't nearly as good when I saw them three years ago; both performance and song selection wise. When I was wasting time I went and saw Gang of Four and Gaslight Anthem; the latter were somewhat enjoyable springsteen-esque punk rock while the former were slightly noisier than usual 80's post-punk. The frontman and guitarist were like 50 but were having the time of their life, plus they beat the shit out of a microwave as a percussion instrument. Quite fun.

I stand corrected. I think one too many seasons of Two and Half Men has broken his mind in half. Also I think I saw you at Soundwave but you always disappeared by the time I went to say hello. What did you think of the day in your classic duckbomb(tm) review style?

High on Fire shall be amazing. I have never been more excited for a festival than now in my entire life. The line-up is excellent and the timetables have worked out pretty well from wha I've seen. Melvins too man! I've seen a live video of the two drum set up for songs like "Evil New War God" and it sounds phenomenal. Honestly it's a day that cannot be missed!

Awesome. I should have a new computer by then! On a far more important note, 2010 albums: what have I missed?

Yeah, I have high medicine and lockpick. I'm level 20 now, just did Vault 34, and it's the first time I've had a sniper rifle entire game. I have Boone with me though, and he pretty much rapes everyone's shit. I think my SPECIAL is a bit crap, I didn't really pay proper attention when choosing, I think I only have something like 4 perception

what skills did you go for in new vegas? I went full guns and full speech; if I can't charm 'em, I can always shoot em

I liked the idea of the buggy but it handled like a shopping trolley with bouncy balls for wheels, plus every compound/cave/base had the exact same layout every time which got a bit old. When you do go down on to a planet for an assignment on ME2 each one is different which keeps it interesting.

I have (not including ME2) five games lined up to finish at the moment so by the time I'm done I should be able to pick up Fallout NV for pretty cheap I imagine! I also highly recommend ME2; it's excellent and is a respectable step up from ME2. My only gripe is that planet scanning for minerals is incredibly fucking tedious, especially if you're OCD like me and simply MUST scan every single planet despite having a hojillion tons of everything.

I'm on it. I recommend Vinum Sabbatum's 'Songs from the Convent'; convincingly retro sounding stuff that doesn't sound derivative! Well, too derivative.
