    Well, that's good news! I really like the song "Leaders" a lot; I'm not sure why. And then the way he sings the word "fucker" on "Criminals" is just so cool. Maybe it's his accent. I was going to say that the vocals are what got me into Katatonia, which is odd for me because generally I gravitate toward the sonic aspect of music (guitars/synth/drums). I'm going to load the PoS my friend gave me into my phone for tomorrow - I listen to a lot of music at work. He gave me those albums you recommended (lucky me). So I'll have another go at it! I see you like Riverside - I spent all day shopping and then painting in the garage and I listened to the entire Reality Dream suite. I can't get enough of Riverside - they kick so much ass!

    Yes, Katatonia is "dense," and I'm not sure why I like it - I think because it is heavy but also groovy and has some decent singing. No worries on getting into it - it is an acquired taste. Actually, American music is just OK for me. I had a lot of Metallica as a kid, but I always liked Iron Maiden and Judas Priest more. Opeth is perfect to me! The only two American bands I still actively like are Dream Theater and Symphony X. I can't wait for the Symphony X DVD to come out. Also, Opeth is recording their 20th anniversary tour next year, so we will get another DVD from them too. I have some Pain of Salvation a friend gave me, but I couldn't quite find something that made me want to go back. Do you recommend an album? Which one is the most commercially accessible?

    I'm glad I'm not alone with the Blackfield thing. It was just boring to me. I'm not one who just likes nice vocals - I need to hear some great intrumentation too. Porcupine Tree has nice vocals but also great instrumentation (man, that Gavin Harrison is so great on the drums). Katatonia is a tough one to break into. For me, it was the album "Great Cold Distance" and "Viva Emptiness." I really like the songs "Ghost of the Sun," "Leaders," "Criminals," and "Omerta."

    Weird - I've seen a lot of your comments on various prog metal albums out there and I totally agree with you each time. Then I drop in on your profile and see that your 1000th track was also from Dark Side of the Moon. Weird. Mine was "Time" though. You got kick ass library. I see some Blackfield - dude, I tried but I think I was just comparing it to Porcupine Tree too much. Maybe I"ll give it another spin soon. Let's friend up!
