#1. My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy - Kanye West
Songs You Need to Get:
All of the Lights
Monster
Dark Fantasy
I LOVE LOVE LOVE Kanye. This album blows me away every time I listen to it. It’s so different musically and lyrically. It’s an album that stands out from anything in today’s music world.
#2. mc chris Goes to Hell - mc chris
Songs You Need to Get:
lowercase
Neville
IG-88’s 57 Chevy
mc chris is one of my all time favorite artists. His songs just make me smile and this entire album is extremely catchy. Nothing I would ever play in front of people I don’t know, it’s like a guilty pleasure.
#3. Teenage Dream - Katy Perry
Songs You Need to Get:
Last Friday Night
Teenage Dream
Peacock
Speaking of guilty pleasures… everyone thinks I’m joking when I say I love Katy Perry, but I do. I loved this album so much I bought it again on Vinyl. Always puts me in a good mood.
#4. The Suburbs - Arcade Fire
Songs You Need to Get:
We Used to Wait
Sprawl II
Modern Man
It’s funny because I made Rachel download this album because I knew she would love it… but I think I love it more then she does. And after seeing the Wilderness video, this band blew my mind.
#5. B.o.B. Presents: The Adventures of Bobby Ray - B.o.B.
Songs You Need to Get:
Don’t Let Me Fall
Airplanes
Past My Shades
When B.o.B.’s album dropped… I think it was really the album artwork that made me purchase it. No regrets here, this is a solid Hip-Hop album, and this dude has a future in the genre.
#6. Broken Bells - Broken Bells
Songs You Need to Get:
The High Road
The Ghost Inside
October
Main reason I bought this album was because it was #1 in iTunes the day it launched, it was an iTunes LP, and I thought Rachel would love it. Some of you might remember that this is when Plastic Beach by the Gorillaz came out. This album is what I wanted from the Gorillaz.
#7. Streets of Gold - 3Oh!3
Songs You Need to Get:
Double Vision
I Can Do Anything
Déja Vu
I hated this album first listen. I was such a big fan of their first two albums. Most albums die at the end, but it was quite the opposite with this record. After making it to the end, I had to keep listening to it over and over.
#8. Sir Lucious Left Foot… The Son of Chico Dusty - Big Boi
Songs You Need to Get:
Daddy Fat Sax
Turns Me On
Follow Us
I bought this album after Jon recommended it to me, and I saw it on Amazon for $1.99. After the first three songs, I was sold on how creative Big Boi is. It’s not your standard rap about the ghetto hip-hop record.
#9. Zero Day - MC Frontalot
Songs You Need to Get:
First World Problem
Spoiler Alert
Disaster
Another nerdcore album like mc chris. MC Frontalot got me into nerdcore rap. This album blew away the last two he put out. I even got Tim and Aaron on the bandwagon with how well produced this piece of work was.
#10. Would it Kill You? - Hellogoodbye
Songs You Need to Get:
Betrayed By Bones
When We First Kissed
Getting Old
If you were to ask me 3 months ago if I liked Hellogoodbye, I would have responded, “yea, 4 years ago when I was living with my parents and they were still a band.” After finding out this album came out, I was looking for new music and bought it on a wim… like I did the Good Charlotte album. Surprisingly, this album is SUPER AWESOME.
There you have it! My top 10 albums of 2010. Now I’m sure your all going to be waiting for my top 10 games of 2010. Woot!
