Enjoy the gig in Cologne, it was amazing in London. Obscura stole the show for me despite blowing two amps including their spare, the midi controller breaking and a host of other technical issues (none of which I can say I noticed, the performance sounded flawless). Gorod were a close second, and of course the other two bands were fantastic as well. I had a good chat with all the bands, nice people.

Yeah, I'm going to the London gig :D Similar story for me actually - back when the tour was announced in November, I had heard a bit of the other bands but was mainly interested in Exivious, however they all quickly became staples of my library.

Yeah, my first impressions are very positive, although I don't know yet where I'd place it amongst Process and Leading Vision. It's nice to hear some new elements like the acoustic part on Carved in the Wind, the unusual interlude on Vangarian Paradise and the clean vocals here and there. Seems like they're playing a mixture of the new tracks and Process stuff on tour, although I don't know the full set list.

What are your impressions of "A Perfect Absolution"?

Thanks for the recommendation! I had a bit of a listen, some very beautiful stuff. Maybe a bit melancholy for my regular rotation though. It would probably help if I also liked the stuff he's covering but I'm not into those artists at the moment :)

I'm more partial to the first album myself. Nice blend of Malone's outstanding solo work (including a Bach interpretation on stick), some heavier tracks and some more classic prog/fusion stuff. My play count on "Rivers Dancing" alone is comparable to the rest of the material put together, although that's partially down to one-track mindedness on my part (pun not intended), it really is killer.

you definately should :) Well, some Cynic members took part on the work for an album of Death before they recorded Focus. So, yes there are some similarities and influences. It's less experimental than TIA and much heavier. You should check out for yourself. It's an absolutely great album!
